That's just crazy talk, I didn't see that coming. The RB situation, and the secondary is what did it for him this year, but still I never expected to see him fired after being there for 14 years.

Pretty shocked here.

Shanahan has a rep for being a control freak and a general prick. There's also the knock that all his success was tied to John Elway and he's done zilch since. The run game has always been strong with him, but that's due in part to the cut blocking.

Wild news, for certain.

Without Elway and Terrell Davis, Shanahan was mediocer.

One could ponder this was inevitable, and the 13-3/AFCC game appearance in 2005 prolonged what was going to happen eventually. If not for that season he probably would've been out in 2007 or 2006.

Shannahan reminds me a lot of Gruden. Both inherited programs with significant talent and took that talent to the Super Bowl. Once the team started to take on their "flavor", the results were lacking.

About as shocking as Andy Reid being fired (...had he lost against the 'Boys and got canned). It's always a topic of discussion every year but it doesn't happen.
