I'm loving this. Screw Ballantyne - not because there are rich people there, but because buying a house out there is a fairly stupid thing to do. The same thing happened with Davis Lake. Eastover and Elizabeth are doing great even though Grier Heights is just around the corner. But they have something Ballantyne doesn't - actual intrinsic value from location. Ballantyne is your classic castle built from sand and a good example of the kind of thing that caused the housing bubble in the first place.

Myers Park does well too, and just so happens to border Cherry. Go figure.

so, if someone wanted to build a landfill right beside you home, you would not have anythign to say about it? Sure you would.

You would go through the proper channels to object. Will it change things? Maybe...maybe not. But, you have the right to object and be heard.

Same with Ballantyne. Citizens there have the right to object and the remedy to do such. Not saying that it will change the outcome.

You believe that they should not have a say.....because you don't live there.

I believe that they should have no say unless they buy the land.

Did I just read about low income housing being equal to a landfill...wow

Just so you guys feel better you aren't required to look the people from low income housing in the eyes.

Not at all...was not my intent.

I just meant that there are mechanisims for homeowners to object to zoning changes or building permits under most city and county law. They have a right to object...a right to be heard...and then a decision will be made.

Like it or not, it is still who you know. And, Ballantyne is full of a lot of powerful people in Charlotte.

And no...I don't live in Ballantyne. I just work there.

There is truly no hope for ignorant people like you.

So, you can honestly say that you would have no problem with a low-income project housing being built right beside your house...dropping your property values 25-30%? I doubt it.

That is all.
