Well if we get hit again while we are over there, it would stand to reason that they were planning on hitting us, right? So wouldn't it also stand to reason that we were right to be over there trying to prevent it?

Actually, what would happen would be that Al Qaeda would go after the local governments in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait etc... in an attempt to topple them and set up a caliphate. Its unlikely they would succeed, but a few successful attacks would cause the price of oil to shoot up. And meat is likely correct in that they would also be in a position to go after us more easily. Doesn't mean they will not go after us now, it would just be easier.

But, yes, getting some soldiers and oher assets back here is helpful. Keep in mind those guys will be looking for work. So the US still has to produce stuff.
