So the administration decided it would erase the mistake from 1991 of not removing Hussein from power and take the fight to muslim soil instead of here.

How was Iraq any threat to the US?

That's the dumbest thing you've ever posted. Cheney, Rummy and Wolfowitz were wanting to invade Iraq since 1997 or 8 when they formed Americans for a New Century.

9/11 was not the reason we invaded Iraq, it was the excuse. The reason everyone voted for the war whether they were for or against it was not for "political gain" but for not enduring "political loss". The Republicans had worked for years painting the Democrats as weak and anti-defense, then they come up with "proof" that Hussein had "WMDs". No one liked Hussein, Clinton had bombed him, so everyone was backed into a corner over the issue where if they voted against the war, and ANY Al-Queida attack came, it would be pointed out that somehow Hussein left alone was the reason, facts be damned. This is why Cheney is an evil bastard and Bush is the worst President we have had - at least when Roosevelt quietly prepared for war with Germany while talking peace, he knew that there was an actual threat.

Yeah? Well that's the dumbest thing YOU'VE ever said. The Republicans don't have to work to paint the Democrats as weak, the Dems do it themselves. Pussies to the nth degree. Hey, let's shut Gitmo down. What, we can't? Okay, let's put them on trial in NYC? What, we can't do that either? Crap. Let's hold hands for peace, then. Koombaya, my lord, koombayaaaaa.

Hussein was going to attack Israel first chance he got. Go ahead, deny it.

You said we needed to fight them there so we didn't have to fight them here.

How were they a threat to the US?

Iraq was a threat to Israel. Radical extremists are who we wanted to fight over there (the Middle East) instead of here.

the war is a lie.
its based on staged events.
it's all about money, oil, and power.
get our troops the eff outta there.
this country was not founded on the principles of spreading mob rule throughout the world, a.k.a democracy.

not finding wmd's doesn't mean they never existed there.
Why are some so naive on this. Look at it like this.
Local police chief goes on camera and says the following: " On March 1st we are going to the 200 block of Elm St and doing a major drug sweep all the way to the 400 block and turning West on Main St and going from the 1000th block to the 3000th block".
Guess how successful the results will be in finding drugs or illegal weapons? That's what I thought.

even if wmd's did exist, which could be very possible, why is it our job to go in and defuse them? i'm sure we got plenty of wmd's in this country, who's job is it to keep ours in check?

oh wait, nevermind. i forgot we are the moral police of the world.

moral, haha...

First, WMDs came from us. Second, it was a UN rule that Iraq disarmed. Saddam was never able to prove that he had fully disarmed. He tried talking from both sides of his mouth - trying to convince the Shia militias in Iran he still had WMD while trying to convince the UN he didn't.
I don't think the high human cost is worth the end result. But if we were all wrong, that cost would have been much higher. We have the benefit of hindsight now and its easy to point fingers. All we had during the 2002 vote to authorize military action in Iraq was shady intelligence and assumptions - from all points of view.

Thats a myth that been perpuated on the internet. The US was a very small player in IRaq's wmd developement. They did provide some dual use technology and items, some of which was used in Iraq's biological weapons program. But most of Iraq's program was in place well before the US did anything. The Germans provided the majority of the assistance (over 50% of the equipment used under the guise of pesticides), with the swiss, brits, russians, and french also providing various assistance.
