Okay, I see the "Bolton" filter is still in place so nobody wants to talk about this... glad I wasted my time typing up a sincere and thoughtful post on this subject.

I'll return to posting fart jokes and animated gifs of boobs since that seems to be what most people on here are interested in.

I agree 100%. I never get tired of far jokes, but I have to turn off all avatars and sigs to keep from looking like a perve becuase I view the huddle a lot in class or in the library.

I think it's funny that people feel so certain about the idea that the Panthers would never associate themselves with Bolton...

Yes, I realize the Panthers said "not interested" last year to Bolton, but that's when they thought they still had a legitimate veteran starting QB... we're all painfully aware that lots of things have changed in Pantherland since they registered that opinion last year. On top of that, Fox and Hurney are fighting for their jobs right now, if they thought Bolton could help them make the playoffs I'm sure they would put the full court press on Mr. Richardson to trade for him and I'm not so sure Mr. Richardson wouldn't at least consider it.

Much of the controversy surrounding Bolton has dissolved at this point, so from a PR standpoint it wouldn't be that big of a deal... so this leaves you with the question of whether or not he's worth the compensation the Eagles would require and whether or not he's a legitimate option at QB. Folks point out all of Bolton's shortcomings as a QB and there are legitimate concerns, but you also have to acknowledge that he's a playmaker and he basically carried the Falcons to an NFC championship game. That NFC championship game was a loooong time ago, but it demonstrates he has/had the capability to get you one game away from the superbowl.

Matt Moore has show allot of promise, but it was essentially in garbage time. The season was already lost at the point Matt hit the huddle. You can't discount what Matt was able to do, but you also shouldn't be willing to bet the whole season on him at this point.

I'm not writing this because I'm a Bolton supporter or hater, I'm writing this in response to the idea that there is no way we would consider Bolton... I think it's too early to jump to that conclusion.

GARBAGE TIME??? GET THE fug OUTTA HERE!!!! Moore played the Vikings when they had the chance to have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs and played the Giants when it was the game that determined if they went to the playoffs or not. Having said both those things he really kicked ass in both of those games. So to say he played in "garbage time" is utter bullshit my friend.

If Bolton starts for the Panthers I will no longer be a panther fan and give up over a decade of rooting for them. And no it has nothing to do with his past, it'll be an extra large cherry on top of all the senseless and flat our stupid moves the Panther's FO makes.

Bringing in Bolton would do absolutely nothing, no reason not to start Moore instead. He has earned the right to be the starter, let's just go from there. I'm almost sure Moore didn't go in to those games saying oh well no pressure cause we are already out. I am sure that the other teams were not in 'grabage time mode' when playing Moore, fresh meat. I am also pretty sure his lack of enthusiasm is not what motivated the team to look more alive than they have in a long long time. I am pretty allthat didn't happen and all that did happen resulted in him earning the right to start for this team.

i was thinking the same thing, albeit in a good bit less colorful language.

it might have been garbage time for us but it wasn't for the teams we were playing.

Using only last season, which quarterback showed more potential to being a starting quarterback in 2010: the guy who helped his team win four of the five games he played in, or the guy who was used as a gimmick for a handful of plays?

If you think Vick shows more promise at this time than Moore, you're on crack. Yes, he's shown more during his career as a whole, but his best days were about three years ago. You'd be taking a risk if you picked him up in hopes of starting, whereas I think Moore has shown plenty to warrant the job.

Good find, and more to the point: The Panthers FO might be in love with Vick but they will never admit it publicly, simply as a matter of policy.

You really can't base much on whether the Panthers say they are interested in someone or not.

Not a fair comparison, Bolton didn't have the same # of opportunities Moore did last year.

I've seen Vick win a playoff game, can't say that about Matt Moore only because he hasn't had the opportunity - but if we're trying to force a comparison here, only one of these guys has a playoff win under their belt.

Well Jake had that, and he also showed he can get us to the Super Bowl, just as Vick showed he could get a game away from it.

Maybe our quarterback's already on the roster. :D
