Anyone bought an RC boat before? I don't need anything fancy, just something that the kids can drive around a little pond in our backyard. No idea what to look for. Do i need to spend some money to get a decent one or what?

Most of those RC's in the $25-$75 price range are made in China and are not going to hold up well to any kind of consistent abuse. However they are perfect for younger kids without breaking the bank. Every now and then you get a dud that will not work properly right out of the box.

My boys have those little small "air hogs" choppers... pretty fun, but hard as hell to control and batteries drain quickly.

We've looked into the big models for our business (aerial photography)... too much hassle for that methinks.

I have one that I got from Radio Shack, called a Gamma Ray. About 18" long, and it moves pretty fast. Didn't cost much.

For $35 you can hardly beat it! But you may want something a little slower to enjoy more.
