I have to agree with Jangler. Cesar Romero was the absolute best... Nicholson 2nd, Ledger 3rd.

I think that they were both good since they actually were two totally different roles in a way.

Ledger did an awesome job in Dark Knight!

Very true.

I know Nicholson gets loads of acting kudos and is considered ultra-cool, but to me a whole lot of his roles just seem like the same guy.

Ledger's performance was legendary. Everything from the voice (hiding his accent) to acting past the makeup to being just plain scary. Since I also consider Christian Bale the ideal Batman, that movie was easily the best Batman ever.

After Ledger's performance Ive forgotten anyone else that ever attempted the role.

Never liked the Nicholson portrayal of the Joker even a little.
