When was the last time Peppers cracked top 5 in sacks?

2008

...but you're just being delusional if you think [he's] going to be the face of your defense.

I think that you'll find that's why he liked Chicago- he won't have to be that guy in Chi-town. The Bears already have the faces and personalities that are the "face" of the defense.

I will say this: Peppers is better than anything the Bears have in the pass rushing front. Still laughing at Bears thinking these hailmary offseason moves/trades are going to pay off. Bears front office, take note from the Redskins: IT DOESN'T WORK.

There's a huge difference between spending money like a drunk sailor in port on any and every Free Agent. We addressed needs with our acquisitions. Only time will tell how they pay off, but to paint every big Free Agent move with the "Redskins" paintbrush is silly.

I love when people throw out the "Peppers is a physical specimen, he'll always do great!"

When was the last time Peppers cracked top 5 in sacks? When was the last time he lead DE's in tackles?(I mention this because being a DE isn't all about sacks)

He hasn't. Other players who aren't so called "physical specimens" beat him statistically every year.

I actually like Peppers and am willing to admit he was a huge part of our defense and it will hurt with him not being here... but you're just being delusional if you think you've got some record setting sack machine that's going to be the face of your defense.

He'll have a good year in 2010, but once that whole "new team new city new people" thing fades, he'll go back to half-assing every other game.

I'm sick of SOME bears fans who think they know everything about Peppers because they saw a few highlight reels on youtube. Guess who also has highlight reels? Jawalrus Russell.

I think Peppers is top 5 when it comes to sacks from 02-10 or some stat like that.I think that counts more because its shows more than 1 year.

He was not top 5 in 2008. and he already said "I can be the face of the Bears defense, I just didn't want to on the Panthers" in different words, can't remember the exact quote.

Of course it did. It had to have gotten taken out of context because Peppers is the greatest defensive end -- no, the greatest player at any position -- in the history of football. And anyone who might wonder whether he is getting the most out of his God-given potential is either nitpicking, or his comments are being taken out of context.

And please, Chicagoans, we implore you. Do not ever try to see who might be at Peppers' house.

You're not very good with stat sheets, I guess. He and Jared Allen both finished with 14.5 sacks (tied for 5th), but alphabetically Allen is listed first. Look to the left column beside their names- they're both #5.

im tired of this.its time to move on from both sides.and for people to say we are better without him your just being an ass.sacks are not everything remember he got pressure on the qb and was a good run stopper.all this love for allen is over-rated by the way......i mean poo.im done.

And, to really split hairs with you, Pep finished tied for 2nd in Sacks by DE's in 2008 as DeMarcus Ware, James Harrison and Joey Porter are all OLB's

I think people are reading way too much into what Peppers is saying. Basically, all he's saying is that he relishes the privacy he couldn't get here. It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone since from day one, as it has been discussed ad nauseum that he is a private person and doesn't like a lot of attention. And mentioning other stars and teams in Chicago is only highlighting that he is only one fish in a very big ocean, rather than one of the biggest fish in a small pond...which is true. So he should be able to live his life in peace, without having people watching his every move.

In fact, I haven't heard him say anything particularly negative about Charlotte, or the Panthers, just why he feels Chicago is a good fit for him and what he likes about the team/city.

I think with some of his comments he is burning some bridges in charlotte but I doubt he cares

Lol I just went to the front page and checked, didn't bother bringing up the full page. and the point I was trying to make, was just because he's a 'physical specimen' and an 'athletic beast' doesn't mean he's automatically guaranteed to have a monster year. I'm not arguing that he's good or not, I'm saying he's not the best DE as some people see him as.

I don't consider him to be the best DE in the NFL either. I do believe he was the best available Free Agent DE.
