All this talk of strained relations with this country the British created. Really what is one think that Israel has done for the US people. I hate to tell them but those F-16 they are flying over there are US made and payed by US tax payers and they are the ones with there hands out. Anytime the Palestine starts to kick there ass they come running to there big brother the US for help but now that the US has some peace talks with Palestine they pitch a hissy fit. Well I say this, why dont we give them the the good ole cold shoulder for a year and see who needs who more. :rant:

If we denied them all military aide then we also couldn't really influence them in their decision making and they would wipe Palestine off the map.

Actually, the primary reason is that, as part of the camp david peace accords, we signed a treaty that we would provide support to both Israel and Egypt. Also, Israel is far more of a natural allie to us than the other nations in the region, and they pretty much have been since the 50's, although we have been providing them with significant military assistance only since the end of the six day war.

Many Israelis are american, most of them speak english, and they have a far more western oriented culture than any of their neighbors do. So its likely there would be some sort of alliance even without the support that the camp david accords call for. Of course, Israel gets a lot of money from private groups in the US, so even without government assistance, they would still be getting a lot of money from the US.
