Its just so much easier to deal with my own failures if I believe the evil rich got all their money by being corrupt and drinking the blood of widows and orphans.

in that case, all forms of government should be considered corrupt and would inevitably end in failure.

thinking about converting to a straight up anarchist haha

yup. pretty much. what country in the world has no corruption?

if you take human corruption out of the equation, there is no better system than communism.

How many people has communism lifted out of poverty?

Capitalism has taken more people out of poverty than any other system in the world. It destroyed feudalism, and allowed Communism to receive the consideration it has today.

lol @ chinese communism

It doesn't matter whether it's a black cat or a white cat; as long as it can catch mice, it's a good cat.

If China is the best example of a functioning Communist State where everyone is better off for living under Communism, I'll take my chances with the evils of Capitalism.

Not that the US is Capitalist. More like Corporate Socialism.

Define failure. Was the great depression a failure, or a major dip? Is failure meaning complete collapse of a nation's economy to the point where that nation no longer exist as a economic entity. IF thats what you mean, then historically speaking, there have been very few total economic failures. So the odds of it happening in my lifetime are extremely slim unless there are external factors such as a major war with nukes being used.

Define it in your own way. I'm not adding any opinion here.

Have you ever visited China? I assure you that most of those Chinese are still living in poverty.

And, China is a communist government that has created a capitalistic economy and market. They are a hybrid....not a true communist state.

Then the answer is no, it will not fail.

Total economic failures without outside influences are exceeding rare.

i didn't say there aren't people in poverty there or that it has a good government or economy.

he asked if communism had ever lifted anyone out of poverty, and it has.

Hundreds of millions of commoners starved under Mao as a direct result of communist policy.

It wasn't until the country embraced national corporatism more reminiscent of Mussolini's Italy that the country experienced growth and class mobility.

It's amazing what a tiny taste of capitalism can do to unlock a country's potential. Unfortunately, Chairman Mao is probably rolling over in his grave at what his country has become. (hence the Deng Xiaoping quote)

The only example he can provide is China.

Debate over.
