If you use American cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich, you are a Neanderthal.

...And Jarlsberg cheese for grilled cheese sandwiches is pretty good, btw.

Agree. i like to experiment with different combinations of cheese and bread. Why limit your self to 1 kind of crappy cheese?

Shrimp are disgusting creatures, and it is even more disgusting to ruin a bowl of grits with them...

Grits are only good with these, or a combination of them:

Salt
Pepper
Butter
Bacon
Sausage
Cheese

Anything else is just damn Yankee intervention and is grounds for treason... Shrimp, no matter how disgusting, are excusable because it probably originated in the South...

I used to HATE shrimp just because they look like sea grubworms.

But goddamn are they delicious.

I agree with your sentiment here SLJ, but I look at this the other way... it's the grits that are making the other stuff better... :D

My all-time favorite dish is two over-easy eggs, grits and bacon/sausage/ham or any combo thereof.

Condiments for grits:

Shrimp
Butter
Pepper
Salt

In that order, no other substitutes!

First time I've ever seen shrimp listed as a condiment

You are obviously not a Charleston Southern Bell.
