Norwood's # could tip off staff putting him at DE

Recommended Posts

Why would he be #92 if they were not leaning towards him being an DE. His college number 40 is available, yet he did not get it. Sounds like the coaching staff might want to put him on the line.

Except linebackers can have numbers 90-99...

Yea, but he could have gotten #40 if he was going to be a pure linebacker..think this shows that the staff is at least considering putting him on the line

there was already a article on panthers.com saying he would be used as a edge rusher from time to time as a DE, but he will be a OLB

Pretty sure I read a quote of Fox saying they were initially having him at SLB.

With Hardy, Brown, Johnson, Brayton & Taylor I have a hard time believing he will migrate to the defensive line, unless we pick up an extra linebacker

He's just the right size for a Meeks DE.

that is by far the most overused phrase around....

pretty sure Meeks just wants guys that can play at a high level. Pretty sure talent is more important to Meeks than size.

the last couple of drafts the panthers have drafted alot of players they feel can play more than one position and meeks used alot of different fronts on passing downs last year so norwood fits in along those lines

can the guy cover well enough to be SLB?

He's decent at coverage, but i can tell you he can't stop the run well enough to be a full time DE..Really think his best position is OLB, especially when he gets brought on a blitz
