I was talking desalination of the oceans... It is a very resource intensive process, and it is going to be necessary sooner than people think...


I was talking about providing drinking water for me and the family when the big problem hits. Not that I think its really going to hit anytime soon.

Food is easy.

The most valuable asset will be something else that we take for granted.

SLJ mentioned it.


Salt would be the number product in demand.


One reason I liked Jericho when it was on. They did there research and that is the way it will be after a attack/collapse of the government. There will be wild game for a short time but with the amount of people in the US it wouldnt last long. Food and gas would be in high demand first after the fuel runs out it will be product that can produce electricity.

Another good show, if you have the time to look up the past episodes, was "The Colony" from the Discovery Channel...

Sure, it was kind of unrealistic in some aspects, but you can learn a lot of real world info that may help you in a time of need...
