Great write-up!As one poster noted no one can possibiy predict what our record will end up with a new QB,WRs,and defensive line not to mention injuries.

What I do know is we do not have Jake and he lost us two to three games all by himself. If Matt plays as he did last year that should count for three wins.I think it is reasonible to believe other than Smith one of these guys will step up and develope a chemisty with Matt.I feel pretty comfortible that our offense will win us at least 3 more games than last year. Our schedule should net at least two more games.Where I am concerned is our ability to hurry the opposition QB.I am not sold on Brown or Johnson or the interior defensive line to get push on the QB.Our LBs should be better with the return of Davis and Connor and secondary is OK barring the qb has all day to throw.Alot is riding on the DE but my gut it could cost us a couple games. One other factor is we have the Facons and Steelers the last two games.I think both teams will be fighting for a play-off birth so we wont have the benefit of having the Saints who gave us the last game.

My prediction is 10-6 or 9-7.

As much as everyone wants to believe that all that went bad last season rested on the shoulders of Jake, it just wasn't so. And as much as everyone wants to believe that Moore is an all-pro just waiting to be discovered, well...

IF the defense starts out where it left off.
IF a number two receiver emerges from our collection of rookies and disappointments
IF Moore can win when the defense surrenders a lot of points
IF the defensive line can generate pressure
IF we stay healthy. That's the biggest IF, of course
IF the OC gets struck by lightening and starts calling runs against teams weak versus the run, and passes against teams weak versus the pass (remember Buffalo last year?)
IF Special Teams actually resemble their name
IF Fox coaches like he has job security, and convinces his staff to do the same
THEN we win more than we lose, and probably go to the playoffs.

You have valid points on all of the above.

However, I do believe that if jake had not completely imploded, the Panthers would have been at least 10-6 last season...maybe even 11-5.

That being said, the current strength of schedule is much easier than last season.

I think the biggest questions are:

1. Can Moore play at the same level

2. Can the DL step up

The rest is fine.

Here is my two cents

1. Avoid silly turnovers

2. Get pressure on the Quarterback

3. Create turnovers of our own

4. Score more than the other team.

Yeah I think it's a pretty safe bet that if we score more than our opponent's this season we will do pretty well.

we play the falcons 3 times this season? :conf:

good read though, it is our style to be under the radar, so i am fine with getting dissed in the ratings. It fuels guys like Beason & Smitty

No but we will lose to the Saints at least once, although we may be able to take a game from both the Falcons and the Saints and finish 4-2 in the division (I'm assuming we should sweep the Bucs). If that's the case and we finish 4-2 then I think it would be very easy to make the playoffs with an 11-5 or even a 12-4 record. However, I think it's unlikely we do that well in the division.
