Hmmmm.... "Set you skin, or or anything else really, on fire almost instantly"

So I'm not much of an expert when it comes to the properties of lasers, and i have some questions. Does it essentially just burn things? Like a super precise blow torch? What is the effective range of this? How effective would it be for killing birds/rodents? Can you reflect the beam using a mirror and still burn things? Can it be used as a cutting tool? How long would it take to cut through a white pine 2x4? What happens if you have two of them and cross streams? What kind of effect would it have on a block of aluminum? Steel?

SO many questions I have.

yeah....no SHlT

I want one. NOW!!!!!

But seriously, I wonder how much damage this thing could actually do to skin. If they put up a video of this thing setting fire to a hog hide, I'm buying one immediately for self defense/pest control. haha

Lucasfilm's General Counsel David Anderman had this response:

“It has come to our attention that a company called Wicked Lasers is selling a highly dangerous product out of Hong Kong that is designed to look like a lightsaber from Star Wars. This product is not licensed or approved by Lucasfilm in any way. We have demanded that Wicked Lasers immediately cease and desist their infringing activities. As Wicked Lasers itself admits, this product can cause serious injury to the user and other people. We strongly discourage consumers from purchasing it.”

More like a magnifying glass but without the sun or the need to be so close. Its highly focused and very bright light.

What is the effective range of this?
Burning? I guess in normal outdoor conditions...10 yards maybe...

Visible? That unit with the 1w power, miles and miles.

How effective would it be for killing birds/rodents?
Not very. You would have to be able to hold it on the exact same spot for quite some time. You could blind them nearly instantly though.
Can you reflect the beam using a mirror and still burn things?
Depends on the mirror. Most household mirrors are not very smooth and would disperse the beam too much.
Can it be used as a cutting tool? How long would it take to cut through a white pine 2x4?
For thin material and for dark material it could but it would take quite some time to burn through a 2x4 with this thing.
What happens if you have two of them and cross streams?
It will cause a temporal distortion that allows the Borg access to this space-time.
What kind of effect would it have on a block of aluminum? Steel?

Not much beyond warming it. The more polished the surface the less effect it would have.
SO many questions I have.
