That thing is the very definition of ostentatious. I hope God had something to do with destroying it. Kind of like the Golden Calf.

Yes you do, but you don't need to spend that money on gold and diamond chandeliers, gold escalators, million dollar stained glass artwork, or any other lavish features. Spending money on beautification of the church is ok as long as you don't go overboard. Most of the money that is spent needs to go to programs that help others. That is the purpose of the church. I do love the architecture and artwork at old cathedrals, but really... that money could have gone to a lot better causes.

You say its ok.But who decides if its overboard?

Dont get me wrong I have seen some very lavish mega chuches but not a lot.Maybe one or two my entire life.most churches I know do some type of community work.

I am God and I decide...:leaving:

Seriously, I guess it is up to the morality and common sense of the church members to decide, which usually is wrong. The rich shall inherit the earth...

Why do people wear ties and dresses to church when Jesus wore a robe all of his life?

Most of the congregation at my church dresses up to go to church, but there are many churches where dressing up is optional.
