I look at it this way, if the 49ers can dump Montana. Then anybody can be dumped.
True but I can see the fans running jake out of town and I would hate to see that...the man has put his heart and soul into this franchise and it would suck for his last game as a panther to be a 6 turnover playoff game.

My answer: "One year too long"
I have loads of respect for Delhomme, I appreciate everything he's done here, and I'd agree that some of the threads about him are out of line, ridiculous or just plain stupid.
With that said, there comes a time in every NFL player's career when it's time to hang it up. We all knew that day would come for Jake at some point, though no one really saw it coming this season.
I can't say definitively, but I think there's a strong possibility that day is here.
I'll be sad when Jake retires. Equally sad someday when Steve Smith retires, and (hopefully) further down when the time comes for DeAngelo Williams to walk into the sunset.
Regardless, no one can stop those days from arriving.

I hate the "if you are a true Panthers fan" card. It's like being called a racist. Stop it.
Ok if you are a real Panthers fan. Who are you rooting for now the Steelers?

Someone once asked me the average length of a pro football player's career.

Very true and after looking at Jakes press conference, I think he knows that it has finally come to an end...but it was an amazing journey.

Anyone else. I mean Tavaris Jackson could put up that performance. At least he has an excuse.
Jackson isn't leaving Minn, try again.

Eh, Jake isn't going anywhere, at least not this next season.
Just out of curiosity, say Jake retires/leaves/ is cut, just who do you bring in to win RIGHT NOW???
I don't think Jake is going anywhere either but I wouldn't mind seeing him back up Matt Moore..

Preeeety sure he was using Jackson as an example. So that means, if I say that my Golden Retriever could've put up the same performance as Jake tonight, it doesn't actually mean I want us to sign my dog.
