Bobcats close to trading Diaw, Chandler, aquiring Calderon

165 posts in this topic

just FYI:

Felton vs Calderon

PPG 11.8 - 10.3

RPG 2.50 - 2.10

APG 5.0 - 5.9

more of a wash than an upgrade, but should fit in well..

I've already talked about it some in other threads, but getting a pass-first PG and a quality back-up PF/C while dumping Chandler's money equals a big win for the Bobcats. They should have the money under the cap to add another player and will be able to use the MLE.

calderon would ring in a good shooting touch from the outside... worse defense but way better offense. plus he never misses Free throws

Calderon's previous 2 seasons though were much better than his last. His avg's were close to 12-13ppg and around 9 assists a game. He probably just had a down year.

We could then use the trade exception to possibly get Al Jefferson, since the Wolves want to trade him for basically nothing this would give them cap room and do just that.

Use that website and look at their per 36 minute stats and their PERs. You'll see just how big of an upgrade Calderon really is.

I feel so bad for Toronto. No Bosh, no Turkoglu, but hey, they got Diaw and Chandler!

    • Edge rushers are the QBs of the defense and Garrett looks to be a generational talent. The only scenario where it ever makes sense to trade next year's first round pick is 1) you don't have a QB and you do it to secure an elite prospect and 2) you don't have an elite edge rushers and you do it to secure an elite prospect. I'm not foolish enough to think it will happen.  Just pointing out that Garrett is that kind of player.
    • You say that now, but when next year rolls around you'll say, "Why were we stupid enough to trade this years first last year????"
