The Heat are very close to singing FA big man Juwan Howard. This would give them another big body, and some much needed depth in the paint.

Add in playing for a Pat Riley lures guys more than playing for a Dan Gilbert.

As for this Heat team, they have a couple of nicknames already...

What does the Union Jack have to do with their new nicknames?

My respect for Udonis Haslem has greatly increased. If only they could have somehow recruited another Florida alum in David Lee to come to South Beach I would mark this team down to play the Lakers (just kidding I know they don't have the money to do that).

Two things worry me about this team.

1.) Point Guard- Yes I know the 1 player doesn't need to be Steve Nash or Chris Paul for this team to survive. But he does need to be able to keep composure and distribute the ball well. He also needs to be a leader in his own right to keep the three egos in check. Chalmers worries me a bit. I haven't been doing much research but as far as I'm concerned the Heat got great value in the draft with some solid bench players, but they didn't nab the man they should have in undrafted free agency: Sherron Collins. He has swagger through the roof and would easily be tough enough to handle any whining from Lebron. Good news is the Bobcats got him.

2.) I know everyone says this but really who is going to take the ball in the fourth quarter. My guess is Wade, but I really don't know.

If the Heat continue to add quality players at a good price they are going to be very very good. It might take them a while to mesh, but come playoff time look out. I could see them winning fourth straight championships or losing in the late playoffs. This group is either going to be historic or crash after the first year in which case Lebron demands a trade and goes to some fringe contender like the Suns.

Either way I'm intrigued to watch the Heat next season without a doubt. Hey ABC think we can bring back that Heat Lakers game on Christmas day again?
