to be fair, southcak hasn't said anything against gay adoption or gay people. he just doesn't understand how they are better parents because he thinks adoption is off an a la carte menu.

all we can do is hope that one day he will have gay parents and see how cool it is.

No, it's not like adopting a kid is the same as going in to buy some tires. But you're not just tossed some rug rat when you walk into Babies-R-Us either.

Maybe if I had gay parents I'd actually trim my toe nails every once in awhile.

Yep, that's what I said.

You're a jackass.

I have no problem with gay people adopting or having kids. But why the need to throw it in everybodies face that they are super parents? I'll put my dad skillz up against any gay dude out there. Bring it!!

Ah yes. We forgot the "gay men threaten me and my gender role" angle.

Are they throwing it up in your face specifically, or the faces of those that would lead people to believe that gays are just immoral deviants who perform group sex in front of their children, force them to march in parades, and expose them to all sorts of debauchery and sinful behavior?

Maybe they are just responding as strongly as you just did in your third paragraph to those who would question their intentions, integrity, and parental ability. I can see why some would look at your reaction to this as feeling threatened, not that you really are. Just looks/reads that way.

"Oh damn, he realized I'm spouting rotten poo out of my mouth! Maybe if I point out he works for the IRS he'll forget about it!"

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn6670-lesbian-couples-raise-welladjusted-teenagers.html

Teenagers raised by lesbian mothers show no developmental differences compared to those brought up by heterosexual parents, according to the first large national study in the US.

Previous research has focused mainly on younger children and found no significant disparities in child welfare between same-sex and heterosexual families.

But few studies have been done on adolescents, who some researchers think may be more prone to - or conscious of - discrimination against their families. Others have speculated whether a teens' own sexuality is affected by that of their parents.

"There's been this debate about whether being raised by single-sex couples is good or bad for children," says Stephen Russell, a sociologist at the University of Arizona in Tucson, US. "We would call into question suggestions that growing up with single-sex parents is somehow problematic."

wow, that article left out a lot about the study.

while they did score the same in 'development', the study found that they scored better in psychological things such as depression, self esteem, confidence, and were less likely to have behavioral problems. they also did better in school and had less aggression.
