QB Moore taunting DE Brown while running downfield. Laughed as he eased out of bounds after long gain

Longer camp goes, the more convinced I become that the Panthers intend to keep all four QBs.

Jason Baker just came within 5 yards of nailing the owner's golf cart with a punt.

Charly Martin had surgery to fix a broken finger. He'll be week-to-week.

Panthers TE Jeff King just keeps getting better with age. The five-year veteran is catching everything in sight. Not fast, but reliable.

Otah running on the side. Still looks a little tentative with the knee

Forgot to mention this in the earlier blog, but there was a funny moment during practice when second-year RB Mike Goodson asked coaches if he could take on the team’s top LB Jon Beason in one-on-one blitz pickup drills.

“We have a request,” said RB coach Jim Skipper announced.

The crowd around the running backs and linebackers erupted when Goodson trotted out to block Beason. He did pretty well too, although Beason appeared to slip on the wet field (it rained for a good portion of practice) while making a move.

Afterward, Goodson said, “To be the best, you have to beat the best.” Great attitude from the kid.

Nice!

9. We’ve been riding Dwayne Jarrett pretty good, but he did do a little better in practice today making a few nice catches. Still, I think he’s being out performed by Moore and Brandon LaFell. As coach John Fox said of LaFell, “He definitely fits.”

I wanted to see a Goodson vs. Sutton vs. Vaughn battle in training camp so we wouldn't have to keep all of them, but since Sutton is sitting out I think it is more likely that six backs are kept.

RB
D-Will
J-Stew
Goodson (I don't really like him but as a Panthers fan I want to see him succeed)

Sucks for Charly Martin that ruins his very slim chances of making the team.

Yeah, they said he looked pretty good the first 2 days too. Sad.

Leonard has yet to practice while recovering from a leg injury last season and nobody else has really jumped to the forefront at this point, although a few have shown flashes.
“It’s going to be competitive inside,” Baker said. “If you wanted to make me name who the starting tackles are going to be, I truly couldn’t do it right now. I don’t know who’s going to be on the 53-(man roster) at this point -- and that’s good and bad. You like to know who your guys are going to be, but the good thing is there are a lot of guys who are good enough to start.”

All I can say if Leonard don't start praticing soon. He will likly get cut and panthers will be looking at the waiver wires when teams begin to cut players near the end of training camps. I can't see the panthers keeping a guy who can't seem to get heathly long enough to even do camp and play a entire season. I see Leonard as a injury prone type player.

we traded a 2009 pick for him, so he isn't getting cut.

It was an ankle injury on a 310+lb man. At this point I think they are just making 100% sure that it is fully healed and ready for action. After the TD fiasco I am all for this approach.

Leonard isn't a rookie and he seems to be in good enough condition. Let him sit it out and make sure he is completely healed. Johnson and Tank need the reps anyways.
