why should we concede the season? when has that ever been okay? So in 05 when new orleans got killed by katrina and the team went like 2-14 the magically evolved into a 06 nfc championship playing team with new players and low expectations? why is that okay for them and not for us

I don't think he's saying concede the season. Just letting Panthers fan know if we go 8-8, it really shouldn't be much of a surprise. We are a very young team with alot of holes to fill.

see that's the thing. People are expecting nothing out of this team, put it to you this way, if our defense played like the way its been playing all year, then our run game was stellar, what would we be missing to be an elite team? A real quarterback, i'm sorry but thats just not matt, and i will take the flack for it now, but just give it time, ask patriots fans if they could win the superbowl with matt cassel, its just not the same thing. You don't settle for a kia when you can get a bmw.

So then where does this Carolina Panthers special edition BMW come from? Clausen isn't it yet... he may get there, but he is like a Lexus atm. Matt, may or may not be the answer but when he has been in live games he has produced. He has earned a chance atleast, more so than can be said for some WR's on this team.

agreed. We are in rebuild mode if we like it or not.

What exactly are we rebuilding? passing offense and special teams? You dont think those are not going to get at least a little better in the next couple of weeks? If Matt moore can play decent and convert some 3rd downs with Smith in the lineup I still say this is a 10 win season

And I apologize if some one else mentioned this thread. God forbid i dont read everything that is posted on this site..I actually do some work at work

suck it

Heres my logic

Everyone here is saying we don't have a number 2. The truth is we don't have a number 1 out there. With Steve smith out and Fox not establishing the run early, our passing game is put in a tough situation. Though it may be hard to watch, its probably for the best and the truth is we haven't even seen our offense yet.
Establishing the run has always been crucial to the panthers success. With DWill and stewart playing for 4 quarters, things will change dramatically in the passing game...
So try not to worry about the offense....Special teams is another subject...

Wait... did we time warp back to 2009? I swear I've read this post before!

defense can be thrown in there also I think. I realize we just beat down the Ravens in the rain and the Jets in preseason but that doesn't mean this unit doesn't have some of the concerns voiced heading into preseason. Let's face it, Sanchez was almost Jake-like last year and looks to be the same guy. They also parted was with 2/3 of there #1 rushing attack.

Now, if we can handle Tenn on Saturday we might can start to cross the D off the list.
