Right Guard. Without it, we stink.

As I see it, we have 3 major options right now. What would you do?

A. Stick with Bernadeau

B. Go with Duke Robinson

C. Move Schwartz to RG when Otah returns

So your choices are: The Deau, the Duke, or the Dude

If you answered "A", you are going on the way things seem to look at the moment, and that is MB is starting at RG. If you answered "B", you are banking on the Panthers' love for big plow horses at RG, and still hope that the reason the Duke dropped to us in the 5th round can be overcome. If you answered "C" Perhaps you did so because the acquisition of Barton suggests that we are going to look at Schwartz when Otah returns.

The correct answer is: "C" Schwartz has the ability to drive block and the feet to pass block. Otah's injury, however, is delaying the transition. By game 3 or 4, look for the Dude to move inside.

I thought it was a forgone conclusion that option A was the answer. call me ignorant...

So did I, but I am hearing "whispers." Until Schwartz gets his chance, maybe we don't know yet. I found the signing of Barton interesting. You ain't ignorant, however, you are probably right.

Will be A. or C.

Duke is potentially a monster for the run game...but, he can't pass protect for poo.

IMO the new OT is just a body until the final cuts. I think MB wins the job, though I'm rooting for DR and an absolutely massive right side.

Is that something that he can be taught to do well?

Bernadeau makes a better guard than center. He's proven that both preseason games.

Yes, he does. But he has worked primarily at G, getting a few reps at center. I also agree that Duke at RG solves a lotta depth issues. He can be taught, but he has to be smart and have some feet. His work ethic makes improving questionable.

I agree that it will be MB--but for how long?

We wanted the best pass blocker in the first two games because we were going to focus on the passing game. Schwartz had to take RT, but he was starting at RG at OTAs a time or two. Robinson has the job if his lazy ass decides he wants to play football.

MB is a backup guard and backup center.

the day Otah returns is the day the Dude will take over at G.

there, now you can all rest
