Picking apart the truth: Panthers lack playmakers

12 posts in this topic

(By Tom Sorensen, [email protected]) EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- It looked too much like last season. Jake Delhomme opened 2009 by throwing four interceptions against Philadelphia. p/His replacement at quarterback, Matt Moore, opened 2010 Sunday by throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble against the New York Giants Here's what was evident, yet again: When the Carolina Panthers play their football, they're fine. They hand off. They grind out first downs. Occasionally DeAngelo Williams breaks a long run. Sometimes they pass to Steve Smith or a tight end. They did this in the first half against the New York Giants Sunday and it worked well enough that, going into the third quarter, they held a 16-14 lead.

I didn't read any of that, but if there's one thing we don't lack-it's playmakers.

What we do lack however, is creative coaching.

The fact that the announcers were sitting there telling us today whether each play was going to be pass or run, was embarassing.

Agreed,

We have plenty of talent on this team, the problem is the coaching staff starting with Fox.

Bland, Boring, No Creativity, Predictable, and Repetitive play calling is what the truth is.

Even the Cowboys lined up all 3 of their feature backs at the same time.

I've been wanting us to do that.

the coaching staff didn't make Moore look off a wide open Stewart to lob it into triple coverage.

We lack a quarterback named Matt Moore who doesn't fold under pressure

We lack a playcaller.

typical observer putting all the blame where it doesn't belong. Carolina either had the lead or trailed by only a single score up until the 4th quarter. With this roster you play a certain brand of football. Asking Moore to be Peyton Manning is poor coaching/playcalling.....not a lack of playmakers.

Only seems like we lacked play-makers at the QB position and the receivers not named Smith. Play calling was pretty obvious too.... run, run, pass, punt....

We lack coaches who know how to properly use the talent on their team.

    • With rivera thinking defense would win mentality..they thought Cam would be enough him and Smitty and double trouble...didn't work that way..this is a passing league and you have to adjust..front 7 is nice but if the team is getting ball out quick it negates it.Our offense in the SB was slow and line not good on the right side..After loosing Smity we had no true threat...Benjamin is good but is slow. Ginn and Brown weak and small..they are no smity ..If Steve were here we would have had a 2015 SB. Imagine Smitty in Browns place during SB...the organization took a turn for worst on offense should have gotten a  replacement benji was not it or was not enough.
    • So you answer a question with a question? Have no opinion?  Scared to guess?
    • correct. herbert spencer's concept (falsely attributed to darwin) was used heavily throughout the late 19th century to add a scientific justification for things like child labor and opposing evils such as regulations. some people were meant to be poor! it is a sure sign someone has no empathy and shouldn't be a viable voice in putting together a society that works for everyone because it is inherently anti-social.
