The most talented musician in Nirvana was....Dale Crover.

Pearl Jam only had one good album, like Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine and STP.

AIC had two good albums at least.

You're straight-trippin', boo.

Their first four albums (Core, Purple, Tiny Music and No. 4) were all very good. I didn't care that much for Shangri-La Dee Da, and I haven't heard the new one.

So between Superunknown and Badmotorfinger, which one wasn't good?

Superunkown was definitely a step down from Badmotorfinger in so many ways.

You can't even begin to compare any STP albums to Core. Bunch of teeny bopper fluff.

I'd say that Superunknown was a step in a different direction, but not necessarily down. Of course, it is what signaled the end of Soundgarden so I could see where you'd say that. I think people like me who started with DOTU and Superunknown and worked their way backward have a totally different mindset than the people who started with BMF, Louder Than Love and Ultramega OK.

There's just not one song on Superunknown that's as good as the first 4 tracks on Badmotorfinger. I will admit the tracks after those are mostly filler.

This thread did make me go track down Crackerman on the tubes.

Yeah, I've never understood what happened to STP after Core... they've made some good music here and there, but all of Core is GREAT. Their latest album is not good.

They are, however, still one of my favorite bands.

Nirvana...I think they were far more popular than they should have been if we are just looking at their music. The fact is their image represented something more than just their music...so I will refrain making any statements about Nirvana.

Kurt Cobain never thought he'd be the symbol he became...it was too much for him.

I used to hate nirvana... mostly because their "true" fans are some of the fuging dumbest most pretentious hypocritical assholes I've ever met. They'll rip on hair metal bands and call them gay or fags or whatever when Kurt was one of the most effeminate frontmen in the history of rock. And then they'll bring up poo that happened before most of them were even born like hating pearl jam because Kurt didn't like their music, and they treat him like some kind of martyr, like he saved rock music. He didn't. Grunge didn't save it either, when we're talking about a grander scale. Since Guns N' Roses pretty much imploded in the mid 90s rock as been on a consistent decline.

Though i will say after listening to both nevermind and in utero, they've got a great sound. Dave Grohl is a talented drummer and some of those punkish riffs on the deep cuts on in utero are brilliant.

Incesticide is my favorite Nirvana album, followed by Bleach.

The Melvins > any band mentioned in this thread.

So wrong about Pearl Jam. They've had 1-2 weak albums, but had some really great ones. Ten, Vs, Pearl Jam, all those albums were amazing, the rest were good, and the worst was probably Binaural (spelling?).

Vs and the rest are a pile of feces mixed with vomit and piss compared to Ten.

I love all their albums but their worst was Riot Act minus Can't Keep, LBC, Nothing as it Seems, I am Mine, Thumbing My... ok, it was awesome too.

Binaural (spelling was correct) was really good because the name of the album was a reference to the recording process they used. Listen to that and then Yield and Riot Act, which were the albums before and after that. You can hear a difference.
