I do not see any way that a one loss team gets into the national championship game this year.

Boise is predicted to be #1 when the BCS comes out next week. They will go undefeated. There will be at least two maybe three other undefeated teams out of Ohio State, Oregon, TCU, Nebraska.

current projections:

1. Boise State .913
2. Oregon .863
3. TCU .854
4. Oklahoma .8425
5. Ohio State .8421
6. LSU .782
7. Nebraska .777
8. Auburn .744
9. Michigan State .642
10. Alabama .634

Boise may not stay in the top 2 even if they win out

It will probably be a snake draft where the draft orders will reverse ever round so even if we did finish dead last (which I hope and pray won't happen) we'll have the #1 pick next year and the following year we'll have the 33rd pick.

thisis what i think will happen. 1st this year is 32nd next year. 2nd this year is 31st next year, and so on.

it would be sweet to get 2 #1 picks for the price of one shitty season though.

It's pretty obvious that we're tanking this season so we can pick first next year. But wait, there's more!

Then, when there isn't football due to the lockout in 2011, we'll once again be drafting first in the 2012 draft, because draft positions will default to 2010 records.

We get two high draft positions for the price of one sh*tty season. This lockout represents a once-in-a generation opportunity for our team; all we need to do is sacrifice 16 games.

Jerry Richardson is a genius.

That is all.

:ciappa:

Well, if that's the case we'd all better hope for a rookie salary cap. Otherwise the Panthers will have 40% of their cap tied up in these first two number one picks.

I would not draft another first rounder until the league adopts a rookie pay scale, which appears to be on the table for the new CBA. Until then, I would trade my number ones for future number ones or for multiple lower draft picks. New England does a superb job of accumulating draft picks each year it seems. It doesn't make sense to guarantee guys millions right off the bat who very well may end up busts.

That sounds good in theory but you need a dance partner.
Also, 9 of the last 10 years the Patriots have selected a 1st round pick.
What they do do exceptionally well is trade a sucker team like the Raiders Richard Seymour for a #1 pick.
Another example of a sucker team would be the Panthers giving up a 2nd to draft Armanto Edwards in the 3rd round.
Just sayin.

This.

Or worst case scenario, they apply the First in-last out concept to make the 2012 draft start from where the 2011 left off (which means we will get the 32nd pick in 2012)

Oh, who am I kidding, we are going to trade up to move our 3rd round pick in the 2nd round of 2011 to Draft a college punter who we'll develop into a Strong Safety.

get over it
