Devin thomas, a wr that was not part of the team on sunday just announced that he met his current starting qb jimmy clausen at a meeting and is happy to be a member of the team on twitter. Why would you say that if you didnt know who was going to start next week, wouldnt that be a slap on the face if CAREER BACKUP started against the 49ers?

The word "current" does not mean "he'll be playing against the 49ers in two weeks". It means that, as of right now, he's taking the reps with the 1s. Could that change tomorrow? Next week? In fifteen minutes? Yes.

They aren't practicing until Wednesday so it just means the change hasn't been made yet.

Yeah, um... this could mean anything or nothing... are they even practicing this week? Clausen is still the starter until Fox says otherwise, so I suspect that's what Thomas meant.

When they put Clausen in they chose for the season. Can't do that to a rookie quarterback. Fox knows that.
