The odd thing about that entry is that it says that Sunseri is leaving, rather than being fired by the Panthers. And the link is to Collegefootballtalk, which in turn links to this story. It says that Nick Saban is hiring Sal Sunseri to be his linebackers coach at Alabama....but never implies that the Panthers fired him.

http://blog.al.com/r...er_panther.html

PFT never said he was fired, just gone. His contract is expired, he moved on. By the way this is being played, it looks like the Panthers are allowing their assistants to find other work prior to making their big move. Until Fox/Trgo are fired, speculation will continue unchecked. Nature of the business. My opinion right now? Trgo is gone (fired) in <3 days. Fox stays. Flip a coin on Lewis. That opinion and $5 will get you a cup of coffee at a (formerly) trendy e-cafe.

Replacement? Can't help but wonder if they don't have their eye on a Steeler's assistant, 3-4 or not.

I seriously doubt the Panthers would make such sweeping changes for any one player. Even if that was the case, I believe that ship has sailed.

And for the record who cares about Peppers, give me some picks and our 17 million. We will do fine.

Agreed 100%

Also, I think the defense's decline over the past 2 years has led to a rift between Fox and Trgovac. I would be surprised if he's back.

I think either one of two things will happen:

1) Fox will bring in someone like a Herm Edwards and give him a lot of power to hire his own staff and basically call the defensive shots while Fox's main focus is head coach only

Or

2) Fox will be calling defense and basically have a puppet DC. My money would be on this, but I don't know. Fox knows they spent a lot to get the offense where they want it, and defense will be what could slow this team down. Fox made his bones on defense, so this will be his opportunity/responsibility to fix it and help this team get back to the playoffs or he's out for 2010.

Lets say Turdocrap floats downstream to J'Ville....

Curious, who is on your wish list for the Panthers to hire as D Coordinator? I ask this because I am at a loss. We need to add personnel and build around Beason. Chuck the 4-3 and start anew? 3-4? Give me some names to research.

Ummm...Herm Edwards as soon as KC cans his ass. With all these firings tho I wouldn't be surprised if the Richardsons are sick of firing coordinators and assistants and just want to do away with the whole staff. If that is the case I would not be that upset. Fox pretty much put together that whole coaching staff, he promoted Turdo, he threw Henning under the bus (and we all saw what Henning did with Miami in one year), and now there are reports that he holds Davidson back from what he can call??? The ship is sinking fellas and the Richardsons better save it before our most gifted player gets away with little compensation in return. Or how about we trade him, he blows up and then Fox is exposed as someone who under-develops talent.

Reports?

I have seen Huddle speculation. If there are reports I would like to see them.

They need to replace greg Williams who is now in New Orleans. There's not a huge number of good defensive assistants out there, I'm a huge fan of though.

It would be nice if Trgo go to Jacksonville. He should love it for the warm weather & being at the beach a lot. Please go there, Trgo. We need a better DC. :D

Doesn't it say something about our organization that we are going to throw everything out to make one guy happy? How pathetic is that? It's bad enough that we don't bench guys after poor performances and now we're ready to burn down the barn when somebody doesn't like the color we painted it?

I hate Turgocrap and I want him GONE but not because I'm trying to please the OH MIGHTY JULIUS!!! haha

I just can't believe that at no time during their "negotations" that Peppers never ONCE brought up his distaste about the way our defense was run? I mean -- really?? He just kept quite the whole time, waiting for the season to end, so he could throw the coaching staff under the bus on ESPN? What a doucebag!

Julius disrespects our team and we're going to come crawling to him? mmm Nobody wants anybody on their team that has you by the balls like that! uhh

Knowing our luck... watch him kick a** in Jacksonville. Everybody wanted Dan Henning's head and he wasn't halfbad in Miami this year. They actually stat-wise had a better offense than us this year and they won the same number of playoff games. haha

You either say.. somebody sucks or they don't fit your system. I can't say Turgo sucks but I will say... HE DOESN'T FIT OUR SYSTEM.

To me this is not about keeping Julius Peppers.

This is about getting a new face in here with some new ideas that the defense can rally behind.

In a business like football a change of face can give your team a new spark.

We all know we have great talent, we just need to give them someone they can buy into.

Pep very well may stay. It seems a bridge is never burnt in the NFL. Though I think it would be a bad idea now for several reasons.

Screw it, its principle now. Lets get everything we can for him and let him be happy.

Even with him on our line we were nothing to fear. (not since the days of ruck, buck, pep and jinx)

Its time to move on.
