This is the nature of the NFL. When you're a head coach about to get the axe, it's always best to throw somebody else under the bus on your way out of town to distance yourself from any potential backlash. That way, when your new team hires you then the fans can feel good about a situation they have no idea about and say, "John Fox had his hands tied by management. With real talent, he'll coach the hell out of OUR team", until they find out that his stale and tired conservative coaching style will follow him to whatever locale he selects after we cut his sorry ass loose.
Jerry Richardson is no saint in all this, as it's a mulligan year in which he's preparing for league negotiations, but John Fox couldn't coach an offense out of a paper bag and that has always been a problem except when Steve Smith has, by force of will, taken this team on his back.
Yes, Coach Fox. This team sucks because it dropped all those dead weight veterans you had last year that provided you with that awesome losing record and were only another year older and most of them didn't even get picked up. That was really the problem here. Not the total lack of coaching creativity to best utilize the talent you DO have, but bemoaning the old decrepit players you used to know how to coach who are no longer here.
