You know you have leadership problems when your OC is Steve Smith.

Smith was uncovered twice that would have went for TD's, I know, I just forced myself to watch the game again. If Moore went thru his progressions, that would have been 14 points for us.

smith is still pretty good but no longer elite.

I don't know about that. He still has game changing speed, and still requires the most attention from defenses. Every player had bad games and makes mistakes.

The Panthers quarterbacks are playing flat out terrible football. There isn't a receiver in the league that could come into the Panthers offense and be successful. Doesn't matter if it's Moore or Clausen, both (at the moment) are just not good.

also: if Moore looks right(you know, checking all of his reads like most average quarterbacks can do) on that one play where Smith had his hands up, then no one is talking about him having a bad game.

I'll just say I won't be surprised at all if whoever the new coach is drafts his own quarterback.

Matt Moore fuging sucks. PFFL sucks Matt Moore's balls.

Now, through the process of deduction, we can deduce that PFFL sucks more than any other poster on this board.

You mean the guy that is furious with the playcalling is actually calling the plays?

Brilliant.

Moore turned it over 3 times, Smith once, Smith dropped 2 passes, Moore missed badly on about a dozen. Yep, Smith's fault all the way.:mad2:

He only had 15 incompletions. 3 of those were a pick, 2 were drops by Smitty. Are you saying every other pass was "missed badly" by Moore? Okay, I feel the hate coming from you.

To everyone else saying Moore doesn't go through his progressions and missed an open Smitty, I ask you this.

How many times was Smith wide open dancing and Moore through an incomplete pass to wherever it went? What if Smitty wasn't the first read on those plays and Moore hit the first read that was open? It's not logical to pass up on your first read when they are open to look around because if no one else is open your first read will not be when you come back to it. If your first read is open you hit it NOW.

Now I know some of you don't watch the games but like to comment so if you do please preface it with that so when I ask you a question you can answer and not say "Well I didn't get a chance to see the game but I bet..."

I know he hit King on one and someone else on another time so what do you expect from him? Pass up open guys to check Smitty then hopefully come back?

He tried that and Smith didn't run his route hard and contributed to the last interception.

Well I think after yesterday it's become a little bit clear who is calling our offense.

The answer: The guy who can bitch the hardest to get his way. So far this season that man has been Steve.

I faulted Clausen for not throwing to him, and I still do, because I don't believe a rookie should ever take it upon himself to "teach" a vet lesson, but you know you have a problem when you have Steve Smith waving his arms in the air, bitching and moaning. ..then immediately after the said bitching, he gets a pass thrown his way no matter the situation....

Then he proceeds to take his frustration out and show everyone how he's the man by causing a personal foul last week, then getting the ball, just to draw the attention of the entire 49ers defense to pile on him even though the play was over and he no longer had the ball.

End of result - fumble, we give the ball away, and any momentum we had gained right back. Then if that wasn't bad enough......he does it again the following week!

Awesome!

I'm just wondering what would happen if a player did that on a team coached by Vince Lombardy......

PS: 80% of this is sarcasm.....not really.

What do you expect Smitty to do when he's wide open on plays and the QB doesn't find him b/c he's eyeing his primary target. The QB has to be able to read defenses and scan the field, ON EVERY PLAY. Yes Smitty made some mistakes, but he's still by far the best receiver on the roster.

I saw it. For some reason I thought he had more incompletions, so no, not all 12, I'd say about 8. I remember several and there's also the 3rd and 2 to Clowney where he's wide open but has to lean down just to bring it in. Moore rolled out to the left, bought time, had time to set his feet but threw a poor ball that we were fortunate to have caught.

It looked like a couple of his throws were goal-line fades, only they were 25-yard airballs that sailed out of the end zone. It isn't that Moore or Clausen have weak arms, it's that their passes miss the target.

I'd also like to point out the shellshocked look I saw in Clausen's eyes vs. CHI was perfectly replicated yesterday by Moore for the duration of the game. He looked confused trying to spot the mike and didn't audible when they stacked the box with 10 guys. Honestly, if the corners are pinched in, audible to a quick hit to Gettis or something.

When people say Smitty isn't elite anymore.. they aren't expressing themselves correctly..

Smitty is a guy who single handedly won us games.. required 3 guys to cover him or else he would still break his foot off in the defenses ass.. rarely do we see those type of players..

There are a lot of elite receivers in the league.. there are few who have that capability who require no other threats on the field and still take over..

Smitty is a guy who ('05 as an example) had no other threat on offense to help open up the field for him and still dominated the league in all 3 aspects: TDs, catches, and yards..

People see that Smitty can't single handedly take over a game anymore and say he lost a step or isn't elite anymore..

Yes, they aren't addressing the situation accurately, but I will say they are somewhat correct..

Fact still remains, Smitty would kill a defense if he had some help.. A decent run game, another receiving threat, and an average to above average QB..

No one can really knock Smitty for not being as dominate as he used to be.. there are few who ever had/have that ability.. but I would freely admit Smitty is still elite.. just not in the same sense we have seen in the past..

More splitting hairs than pointing out anything drastic..

The OP has a point about his on the field conduct, which is childish at best. Sure Moore played really bad Sunday and is probably not the long term solution at QB, but showing the guy up on the field was uncalled for. Smitty is a great player who can change a game in one play but his attitude sucks! We talk about TO and Moss being a "cancer" on a team, I'm starting to believe Smith belongs in that discussion as well. (I have a feeling we haven't seen the end of this.)

There will not be another Smitty in this organization for a decade (or two :(). Better enjoy what's left of him while you still can

I still rub my Wesley Walls jersey after every game and cry myself to sleep as my wife looks on
