Well, the interview went well. It was a bit more informal than I was expecting, but that was in my favor, I believe. It was about two hours.

They talked about what they were looking for, once that was done I had to demonstrate that I could perform the job functions on their systems, in training mode. Then, it was a listening/memory/description test. Both went well.

It's a 4-6 week process and I think I have a good shot. My brother works for Concord PD, another friend is a dispatcher.

My past may be an issue, but it's been ok for NC OEMS, NCCOB and NCDOI, so I'm praying it goes well.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, I'll keep you updated as things progress.

Cool! I'll still say a prayer for you tonight. It seems to have worked for my neighbor. He has been without a job for 2 years and it looks like he will get on with a hospital here in Charlotte.

I used to work for Concord, but not in the Fire or Police Dept. I was with the Planning Dept. I got to know the Police and Fire chiefs and the Communications Director pretty well. They are good guys. The employee's golf tourney is held at Rocky River and you get a pretty good discount to play there.

Jack..... I didn't know you were a medic. I know all too well about the whole back issue deal. Kind of a demon in this buisness.

Congrats on the dispatch job man!

Best wishes man.

My sister was an EMT once. She sprained her ankle tripping over a dead body.

(needless to say her co-workers were a tad...mocking)

Glad to hear the interview went well!

I had an interview with the Highway Patrol working as a dispatcher; I stayed on as a drivers license examiner because it paid more! The dispatch job seemed pretty cool though.

Good luck!

Job Interviews: Where you show up early, dressed your best with a big smile on your face, a can-do attitude and enough enthusiasm to take on the world, and then you try to convince your potential employer that this is what you'll be like every day if they hire you :sosp:
