Here's hoping Edwards gets a start at QB this year

if the panthers are going to win, they have to change their offensive strategy and adapt it to the strengths of their players. continuing to do the same thing they've done all year will only net the same results. of course. we're talking about a fox coached team so adapting the offense to the strengths of our players is out of the question. it's all about getting players and trying to stick them into your narrow and heavily regulated system whether they work in it or not...whether the system works or not.

I completely agree the team needs to change, but asking for a complete overhaul midseason is foolish. We can't even expect routes to shorten and playcalling to adjust for our supposed "franchise quarterback of the future," why would they drastically change everything for AE?

I totally agree that Fox is failing at coaching here, btw. Just saying, we shouldnt' expect anything from AE at this point.

It takes a hall of fame QB to run a modified spread offense?

You have no depth to your thinking then. He could still throw from under center, they would have to to keep it honest. I have no doubt that he would be able to, but the majority of plays could be run out of the shotgun to make it easier.

So you think a kid who has never been asked to throw under center on a consistent basis could do it consistently and well enough so succeed on the highest level.....

Sorry, I just see lots of covered receivers, blown protections and rolling out to find nothing and getting sacked.

No but it certainly helps to have a great QB if you're running a spread and throwing it 50 times....

so let me get this straight:

If the Panthers are able to abandon their offensive philsophy, completely change their scheme, redo most of their plays, and get some guy who had been getting reps at WR in at QB, we'll succeed? this is mid season, remember.

because that's about what you guys are suggesting.

If Edwards can't be under center, he can't be an every down QB in THIS offense right now.

this. It's not very realistic that Armanti would put up great qb numbers just because the odds are stacked against him. I would however like to see Armanti get 10-12 plays a game in the wildcat formation, because as I have said early if he drops back to throw, at least he will run around before taking yet another sack. Clausen and Moore just stood there

So our offense up to this point continues.

Perhaps we should give Armanti a shot on the field before we all decide what he can and can't do. Claussen was supposed to be able to do a lot of stuff, but couldn't when it came time to answer the call. Jake Delhomme was a nobody, but he had it when he was given the chance.

Assessments be damned, you just can't tell a darn thing until you get the player on the field.

My point exactly. Doesn't matter who's back there, I guess.

Where the heck is all this hate coming from?

When has he ever failed at QB? The only time I have seen that was when he was so injured he could barely walk.

Several NFL teams use the shotgun. 3 step, 5 step, whatever. Running backs can see their holes better that way also.

He could work under center. No big deal.

You don't have to change offenses to get good results with Edwards. You would have to change your way of thinking though when they put him into the game.

You're welcome, any time I can get you to defend your beloved Armanti, I enjoy it.
