Predict Clausen's stats for Sunday

My prediction:

No more than half of the pass attempts completed. 9/20

No touchdowns.

Less than 70 yards. 67 max.

At least one interception.

A handful of rush yards. 10 max.

Sadly I am being very generous with these stats.

The most production I have seen out of him is rolling to an improvised bootleg and sailing the ball into the sidelines. I swear sometimes it is a designed play, with the results that allows follow it planned.

Actually, he may be the first QB I've ever seen try to throw a ball away while running for his life only to have a receiver catch it somewhere close to the sidelines and make it look like just another lousy pass.

But I can't predict his stat line because like another thread title, I'm still "Wondering About Clausen...." period. I'm still wondering the why's and how's that he's a Panther.

I'll be nice and give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that them using him in shotgun fixes some things.

so I'll say 14/25 for 155 with 1 touchdown and 1 interception..

At the end of the day, it does not matter what his stats are on Sunday.

What matters is what he looks like at the end of December, is his reads quicker, his decision making better, can he manage to stay calm and upright with an abysmal line, young recievers, and no running game, and a coaching staff that is totally abysmal at calling a 2-3 step drop passing game to help him get rythm and confidence and move the chains.

Like it or not, they invested a 2nd round pick in him.

But, take heart, unless the Panthers screw up and win a game or two here are there, those of you who dislike Clausen so vehemently, will have the chance with either Locker or Luck and hopefully the new coach has a better offensive scheme for one of those two young QBs to succeed than the current cast in charge in Charlotte.

miracles can happen, right? (those are actually the stats from his first somewhat decent game at ND 11/10/2007)

probably be a lot closer to fiz's stats.

First, you tell me how many yards the Panthers are going to gain on the ground with their patchwork running game. If it's 80 yards on the ground on 20 attempts Clausen's going to get his ass handed to him by Tampa's defense. If it's 200 yards on the ground on 35 or 40 attempts he's going to look pretty good.

I long as the Panthers win, I don't care if he throws for only 75 yards.
