It doesn't make any sense to sit a guy out for the rest of the year if you plan on trading him. DWill is not going anywhere. If you want to trade someone, you want them on the field showcasing their talents. Sounds to me like Carolina is making a smart move for the future of our franchise. If you are going to trade someone why would you care about keeping him healthy long-term?

Seems to me they want to showcase some other running backs on our roster to build their value for trade bait. Let's be honest, we have 4 NFL quality running backs on our roster. We will not have all 4 on our roster next year. DWill and Stewart are already proven. What is the best way to prove the value of the other 2? Get them on the field.

Question: I am not an expert on IR, but can a player once placed on IR be taken off. Meaning, if DWill starts feeling great in a couple weeks can we reactivate him? If I was DWill I would not want to sacrifice my game pay check if I was healthy....

Not suprised. Even when healthy, he barely got the ball. No point for him to come back

I think they Panthers need to do what they can to resign him. I think if not for the CBA he would have been one of those guys they would have locked up. That being said, there is always the Franchise Tag. Of course the debate is whether he is worth it, but we can always have the Pepper's saga all over again :-) The only difference is I think D'Will will handling it differently.

No way Carolina resigns him for what he will command.

Panthers should have traded him before the season. I proposed a Dwill for Big Ben trade before the season.

Yeah, I'm sure the Steelers would trade Big Ben... brilliant.

they might have this past off season. of course it was just fantasy talk...my point was that Carolina should have taken advantage of DWILLS value to improve the team.

If they had, they would have wanted a hell of allot more than DeAngelo Williams.
