Do you think he's doing that because of the new helmet to helmet rule? He might be holding back because he doesn't want to be pentalized/fined. Just an observation.

He was doing that before the new helmet to helmet rule.

I don't know him, but I bet he doesn't want to get hurt heading into free agency.

Champ Bailey could hold down the #2 spot just dandy. He would have plenty to teach our young DB's as well.

I doubt he would cost anymore than what Marshall wants.

Even if we retain all of our upcoming FAs we'll have enough cap room to get him most likely.

Marshall is not worth all that much IMO. Yea he gets a INT every now and then but he is consistently out of position. Blaming it on Martin is not working this year cause as said before he is almost always in position.

So if we could get Bailey i would dance on the table. :hurray:

Unfortunately Captain is held back by his size.

He'll have a great little career for the Panthers. He'll be a special teams captain (lol) some day. He'll never be more than a nickel/dime back.

Nah, Marshall is good in any system. He predates Meeks, remember.

Marshall's greatest asset was how good of a tackler he was. This year, he's playing like he doesn't want to get hurt. You'll notice he used to go pad to pad with whoever and didn't give a f**k at all.

Now, he's arm tackling, or diving at people's knees/ankles, and he just sucks at it. On top of that, it's affected the rest of his game. You don't all of a sudden forget how to cover.

he never could really cover but he USED to be able to tackle. He was always more of a zone corner and he's always needed a safety over top, that's what I mean about our system. He can't play press coverage without getting a PI called on him but he plays the run well. If you put him on an island he'll get burned all day, have a melt-down, get a personal foul called on him then continue to get burned.

Not many systems emphasize that skill-set in a corner.

Getting burned and causing PI penalties is a skill set? Damn, I should have played CB!

Marshall is a good nickle back. That is all...

I think Capt. will become a good 2CB in years to come. His coverage is almost glue tight. So much sometimes they call PI even when its not there. Ah la Revis.

A lot of what Revis does is PI.

he's always needed a safety over top

A corner that doesn't need a safety over the top is called a shut down corner (Revis, Asomugha, Woodson). Faulting Marshall for needing safety help is like getting mad at a 70-year-old for needing viagra to get it up.
