Talent leaves all the time in the NFL KG.

True, but you can be clever like the Patriots and Richard Seymour and have that talent leave on your own terms. Trade to the Raiders for a future #1 while he's still under contract.

Moral of the story?

The Pats have a #1 draft pick inbound.

The Raiders?

Well they had to Franchise Seymour to keep him and find themselves in a Julius Peppers situation.

Be proactive, not reactive.

DWill is a special talent, do what is necessary to keep him or get compensation.

I agree with your logic, but such things seem to be exceptions to the rule.

we cant let dwill go without anything. I like the trio of Stewart, Goodson, and sutton but would love instead to see Deangelo, Goodson, and Sutton and trade Stewart for a 2nd rounder or even a third round pick.

Just cant keep losing players without any compensation. Kills your franchise.

Goodson has had some terrific plays, but as much as he fumbles and gets his QB killed, I'm not willing to turn it over to him just yet.

Sutton has 7 carries this year and no fumbles, the roster is an unforgiving mistress.

sutton is your third back in a williams, goodson, sutton trio. I am sold on Goodson. He still has potential fumble issues but the guy has been solid. Could def carry the load as the 2nd TB in a two TB system. The question is what to do about Williams and Stewart. Which one leaves. I have a feeling its Williams and we get 0 for him. Thats the fear. Franchise the guy and get a long term deal with him and trade Stewart for an extra pick in the third round to take OL or DT.

Deangelo Williams is not a special talent. He's a top ten running back. And running backs are replaceable as hell, emotional Panthers fans.

I don't understand why we have to trade anyone.. running backs don't exactly make quarterback money, and you absolutely NEED depth at the running back position.

take a look at the Packers who lost Grant at the beginning of their season, or the Texans/Browns who lost 2 running backs that were expected to start before the season even started.. hell, I think Ryan Matthews has been injured for most of his rookie season.

yeah, it sucks knowing that good players are on the bench, but having depth at running back is more valuable than a 3rd or 4th round draft pick.

Both our active running backs are better than either of the backs currently starting for the Chargers and Packers. Those teams havent missed a beat because they have great QB play, so they can just plug in a guy and keep rolling. When you consider that and the depth we already have at rb, why are our fans overvaluing the RB position? Could it be because Williams, while no doubt a very good player, is everyones favorite? Probably.

Seriously, you can tell who owns a number 34 jersey here.

Last three games; 275 yards rushing, 125 yards receiving.

:( I wish we would have had enough creativity at the start of the season to utilize him, Dwill and Smith the right way with all of them on the field at the same time, with some unpredictable play calling that would have defenses scratching their head.

First off you are almost certainly mentally handicapped.

Age is a factor Williams will be 28 at the start of next season very close to the terrible "30" that backs hit... Stewart and Goodson will both be just 24.

Actually smash n gash, I am mentally handicapped, but that didn't deter your mother when we made you. 34 has been lightly used, although has had injuries, but should have more staying power than your average back. That bring said, he's a special talent, not 'special like me', that should be kept at all cost. Kiss your mother good night before I do.....
