So you haven't heard of the new rookie cap, right?
Heard of it, yes.... Think it will happen.... No

Yeah. Seriously, can we just stop this silliness? :nonod:JR has gone cheap one year out of 16, with a new CBA looming and everyone thinks it's permanent, LOL
Richardson took advantage of an uncapped year to dump "bad money" and hopefully set us up for years to come. But in prior years, we've had a team that's had little to no cap room. Why? Because we were spending it.
And for all the consternation, we're not even the lowest spending team in the league this year (seven or eight teams are below us, if I recall correctly).
Yet numerous people whose memories apparently don't extend further back than this past offseason whine about Richardson being cheap :nonod:

brandon how easy do you think it is to "trade down"?
With the way Hurney wheels n deals not very hard.... Can u imagine if we had found a taker for this years first to jump up and take Clausen?

To me it seems like the money we paid Peppers and Delhomme last year shell shocked him, but I guess we will have to wait until next year to see for sure.
This thread was a FAIL, I'm sorry

Considering it's something both the players and owners want..
It's pretty the only thing they agree on at this point, from what I've heard..

You're not the only one to misread this season. Plenty of folks have.To me it seems like the money we paid Peppers and Delhomme last year shell shocked him, but I guess we will have to wait until next year to see for sure.
Richardson's never been shy about spending money. he just prefers to spend wisely (i.e. not blowing big money on free agents just because analysts or fans think you should).
The mistake everyone is making is to not put this season in proper context. This year is unique, and has led to a unique approach.

Players do not want the 18 game season, and they're making it known (loudly).I've heard the rookie cap is almost a done deal..

How can an uncapped year affect cutting salaries? It could help in adding salaries, perhaps.Richardson took advantage of an uncapped year to dump "bad money" and hopefully set us up for years to come.
