"If Luck comes out, it's game over. He will go No. 1, you can put it down in pencil. To Carolina. To Buffalo. To Cincinnati. To a team that wants to trade up. To whoever. End of discussion. And if my team had the No. 1 pick, and it had the chance to take a potential franchise quarterback, it would be insane to pass it up." - Adam Schefter

Intersting quote, Pantherfan81. I don't agree with drafting a POTENTIAL franchise QB until all of the other pieces on offense are in place. Although I see his logic, the Panthers need to watch the next five games and decide if Clausen is the FRANCHISE QB or not.

What team that has a chance to draft a franchise QB at the #1 spot has all the other pieces in place.

the smart teams prepare for a franchise QB...perfect example being the falcons.

i'm all for luck being drafted if carolina improves the o-line, signs a veteran QB and a veteran reciever.

start him right away. there's no point in him sitting on the sidelines. there's nothing to see.

Both of you are right, which is why so many franchise QBs drafted failed miserably. Carr, Harrington, Couch, Russell, etc. However, if the pieces are not in place, Peyton Manning would suffer, as he did his rookie year.

The fact is, Luck may stay in school and wait for the lockout CBA crap to end. I would advise him to do so if a lockout seems inevitable. However, if Harbaugh leaves--and he should, Luck could fear his stock would drop on a bad team and a new offense. DRAMA.

I am intrigued to see Brandon Mebane play, as the top free agent pass rushing DT, he could be a great acquisition for us...

i for one wouldn't be surprised to see carolina burn it's first pick on a dt.

it's the one piece that the defense needs to be one of the best in the league. if they're not going to sign a good fa to fill the spot, picking anything less than the best in the draft is pointless.

I think it depends on where we end up, however drafting DTs is one of the riskiest positions to get right. They always take a year or two to be pro ready and often that leaves franchises hanging.

I would much prefer we gave a run at Mebane, he has 4 years of being one of the best pass rushers from the DT position and he has also played NT pretty well.

Let's see how much he and Clemons ruin our OLine today!
