So this is more of a personal observation. Jimmy's main problem right now is that he has zero chemistry with this team. He really does not act as if he is a member on the team let alone a leader of it. I don't see him with any kind of positive interactions with anyone. Most guys on the sidelines have their clique, their friends they talk to and such. Not Jimmy. Poor guy still looks like the new kid in school.

I know, I know, it doesn't excuse his performance on the field. But believe it or not, these are actual human beings out there on the field. Little things like these do matter.

Someone give the kid a hug.

I noticed after the 4th down sack 89 went over to him and appeared to be trying to talk him up. Pickles just started staring off into the distance.

Now 89 could have been telling him he sucks, but still kid has got to have some fire.

My buddy's teenage daughter thinks he's cute. She'd hug him. Not so sure my buddy would.

He came in to this season pretty brash. Now he's being humbled. Not an easy thing for any of us.

Still, adversity reveals character.

89 does not talk him up, 89 points out his mistakes.

In a "You suck go home" or a "This is what you did, this is what you should have done" manner?

Clausen has zero respect for Smitty.

I have never actually witnessed Clausen show frustration. You know...hammerfisting the ground when getting sacked etc.

Smitty is a hard guy to win his respect. Clausen's handlers need to walk him thru how to deal with others.

I feel bad for the kid, but he's got to be more assertive. You can't be that shy kid in school, and be the QB. That chemistry that he doesnt have with the team, man, he should've gotten that squared away during the offseason/preseason. The kid lacks confidence and it's shown all season.

Why O why didn't we get Golden Tate? At least he would have had one friend for a month.

If you talk big, and you back it up, you're a leader.

Talk big, then suck, you're a laughingstock.

Doesn't matter how assertive he is until his play improves.

Saw that too Kurb. It looked to me like Smitty was trying to encourage him and talk him up. He didn't appear to be demonstrative or trying to make a scene, it looked like a genuine pep talk. But, Pickles ignored it, like he was looking through him.

I don't feel bad for him, and no one should give him a hug. If he doesn't have any friends or chemistry with others, it's on him. Y'know, a lot of people can sense that a guy is a unapproachable douchebag. It's up to Jimmy to make that happen and it appears he hasn't tried (other than the Cactus Coolers).

Also, players follow natural leaders. Whether they are vocal or leaders through their actions/play. Neither seem to be Clausen's strong suit right now.

That motherf'er has $2 million guaranteed in his contract and has not done one single thing to deserve it so far. How about saving the hugs for those homeless people that get the joys of sleeping under overpasses on I-277 in 12 degree temperatures tonight?

He needs to buy himself a little humility. His ego is getting in his way of his development.
