According to the team, Wallace lost 30-40 percent of the capacity in his left lung. He also suffered a non-displaced fracture of the fifth rib on his left side.

Doctors at Centinela Hospital inserted a tube in Wallace's lung to help restore functional capacity. Wallace will spend at least Wednesday night in the hospital. Doctors do not anticipate releasing him before late Thursday. At that time, the Bobcats will be better prepared to decide whether Wallace would join the team on its current West Coast trip or return directly to Charlotte.

The Bobcats will play the Bobcats tonight in Portland. It was unclear who coach Larry Brown would start in Wallace's place.

The good news is according to Bonnell, we will be playing our selves tonight so we should win. Or lose? Not sure.

if i were larry, which im not, i would start shannon brown in geralds spot. he had 15 off the bench last night and has been gaining larry's confidence of late. Stick with the hot hand IMO.

Bynum should be suspended for as many games as Wallace misses cause of this injury.

This will be rehashed before the Lakers come to town in late March. At least we will have a sub-plot to a Bobcats game that doesn't involve our front office.

Not dirty at all. Bynum clearly was just trying to keep Wallace from making an easy basket. At no point did Bynum swing his elbow in a striking manner or do anything that remotely looked to intentionally cause injury. All he did was throw his body at GW with his arms raised, and the elbow just happened to hit him in the wrong spot.

Flagarent, yes. Malicious, no. Bynum was just trying to make a play, not trying to hurt Gerald. So being called for a foul is appropriate, suspension is not.
