Per a league source, the Carolina Panthers will interview Rivera.

The Bears’ defensive coordinator during their Super Bowl season of 2006, Rivera had said that he won’t consider any opportunities until the Chargers’ season ends. But that declaration came at a time when it appeared that the Chargers season would extend beyond Week 17.

@sdutChargers: Carolina has asked for (and been granted permission to talk to Ron Rivera. He has not been formally contacted by them yet.

That's a good start in the search for a HC.

Best D in the NFL.

And a 3-4 defense as well.

The debate will begin that he'll water down to a 4-3 if he comes here. ;)

I'm fairly certain he doesn't count as a rooney rule interview, this guy is hispanic and the rooney rule is for blacks only.

I would rather try getting a off. minded coach for once.

What is JR thing with DC 2 HC option?

Not a bad choice, but I would like to get an Offense mind type of coach instead right now. Though he done wonder for the Bears defense.

Had one of the best 4-3's in the league when he coached ChiTown.

Dimbee recommends him.
