Me thinks JR has a proud old man.

WHo has a VERY dry sense of humor.

And NO patience for bullshit.

well put.

......grow some skin....

......get laid...

nothing to whine about here

I'm not saying I was sitting there with my jaw dropped in disgust. I actually laughed at a few of the things he said, but simultaneously, I was thinking "wow, this isn't the JR I remember."

Afterward, some of it did seem offensive because of the context. I'm sure he was pissed about the "cheap" comments, but that was mostly national media, not local, yet he chastised the local guys for it.

And after not talking to the media in this many years, I don't get how everyone was saying he was blunt... Many of the questions he laughed off or joked around and didn't answer directly.

Someone still should acknowledge that there was some dishonesty in there somewhere about the Harbaugh "contact" question... At least it wasn't full disclosure it appears.

I'm all for jokes and fun, but today I wanted more answers than jokes. I heard someone mention earlier on the radio today that someone should've asked about Smitty's situation. Yet, I think the media was so shellshocked, that if they had that question in mind, they quickly forgot it.

I know most of us are on one side or the other of this issue, and most likely won't agree with the other side... But, I just wanted to express how I saw it. I really will feel a lot better about JR depending on how the coaching situation and drafting goes...

i only saw the edited video. it seems like everyone is overreacting unless panthers.com cut all the good stuff out???

Listened to it live. It was embarrassing. If he soooo needed to know who everyone in attendance was, he needed to come in prior to the conference to find out or have a camera with a feed to his pre-conference area and someone brief him.

As someone from here on twitter said, he sounded like that old, drunk uncle.

In no way shape or form should/do I want him to say anything about the coaching search. We will be fine watching the press conference. If we know it, everyone knows. Pretty basic concept.

Coaches/Owners aren't gonna tip their hands as far as the off season goes, nor should they. Why people expect certain subjects discussed in public is beyond me.

He may have rambled a bit on a few things, but that is just being his age, and where he's from. I didn't take it as him avoiding anything. I did sense some anger, maybe somewhat justified, at a lot of the media. I don't think he was directing it at everyone in general (well, maybe a few huddlers, but doubful since he just learned to use a cell phone).

As for the media being shell-shocked, I think they were genuinely scared to freakin' death the way he started off the Q&A... "WHO ARE YOU?!!! AND WHERE DO YOU WORK?!!!"

I think the next thing they expected to come out of his mouth was "GTFO"

I think the "who are you" thing was quite intentional. It immediately set a tone in the room, and put him in control.

As for his speech, I know quite a few old southerners that talk like that, and know enough that you don't mistake that slow talk and occasional slurring as not being on the ball.

And he's wrong about JR. He clearly should stick to NBA because he doesn't know him at all

Fox doesn't say enough, JR says too much. Jesus what do you people want around here? He came into that room, took command of the situation and said it like it was; I'm sorry you can't handle direct talk. Maybe 'it is what it is' would be more to your liking?

I get that, but i thought he was blunt and transparent?

Saying they were pursuing Harbaugh doesn't appear to be hurting the 49ers.

I don't expect to hear details of what's going on behind the scenes, but JR fans are giving him an easy out.

I love JR and appreciate him bring us the NFL, but I want to win. And I don't like being fooled around with. He can't have it both ways...

Just like the comments on Fox - he just got done trashing him then Hurney goes directly into how hiring an assistant "worked" last time, lol. It didn't appear like he was on top of things to me. Then everyone keeps saying he's not cheap because he paid Fox. And I agree, to a degree... He's still paying Jake. He paid Gross, Gamble, etc.

BUT, to hold the franchise and fans hostage with Fox knowing he was failing himself because he didn't want to pay two coaches contradicts what the Jake, Gross, Gamble moves suggested.

Actually, I'm saying that he didn't say enough in his own way. Using more words and taking longer to say them doesn't mean he's saying more or "too much." That's my problem.
