It's also looking like we are going to be hiring a defensive minded coach again. Ill put my trust in them for finding defensive talent later in the draft or bringing some in via FA.

Bring a good offensive coordinator/QB coach and fix the offense this year and get them some experience. Next draft can be dedicated to strictly on defense.

I'm not a big supporter of WR #1. But Green is definately a rare talent that doesn't come around often. We need to come to grips that Smitty does not want to be a #1 anymore and will start to decline. Green is capable of fulfilling the #1 role in the future. We suck at drafting WRs and Elite WRs rarely hit the market.

You make good points. Excellent points.

The problem is that, contrary to JR, we don't need a superstar. We need a bunch of above average players to plug roughly half the spots on the team.

JR did say it's time to change the Panthers philosophy. Anything can happen. It seems he is starting to realize we need to fight fire power with fire power when it comes to our division.

Orton for a 5th round pick :D

They want a 2nd for him...but I think we should work with moving a player not not a draft pick. I'm fine with the new regime blowing up the team a little more to get an offense going. Honestly, I think Orton would be a great fit for Green if we get him. Orton's definitely not a long term fix but he can be viable for a few seasons until we find a franchise QB in a future draft. A Kolb, Fitzpatrick, or Flynn could make sense too

I highly doubt anyone would give up a 2nd for Orton though. It's more likely he'll go for a 4th/5th.

Orton could be solid.

yep...Denver is probably being smart to see if someone will bite with a 3rd for him as a counter
