Newtons is first read and Whitehurst is second read. In the Newton one the rush makes it look like he has a second read but the TE is his first read. Second play its clear that its his second read.

Really though Newton was under heavy pressure so he could have just gone to his check down man but it looked designed that way.

TRD man, this forum is 98% morons of the highest order. Seriously, in an internet full of message board cesspools this is like the Vince Young Wonderlic of message boards

Just remember that there are people on this forum that thought (and still think) Jimmy Clausen could be a good NFL quarterback. That people on here thought DeShaun Foster wasn't a useless turd. That most people here barely even watch college football and couldn't tell you the difference between Nick Foles and Andrew Luck before ESPN told them one was going to be our pick if he declared. TJ Yates for next Panthers QB right tar heel fans!!! Pat White and Owen Schmitt = Super Bowl baby!! ARMANTI!

Keep spreading the truth, man. You're one of the few people with an IQ over 12 posting here and while it may not seem appreciated it, it is. I personally can't handle it enough to actually post regularly but hopefully you can. Aside from when you tried to pimp Carson Palmer as anything other than used up damaged goods you're one of the few here that doesn't spout complete garbage

i guarantee half the cam newton homers don't even know who gus malzahn is

If you watch the entire video you can see the whole route combination.

You can see how the top receiver almost picks the linebackers making the TE more open.

Did you change the first video? I could have sworn it was different the first time I looked and I couldn't tell what # 80 was doing, now that I've watched it a few more times it seems clear to me the Cam Newton play was designed to go to the TE all along, he leaked out to the left while all the motion was to the right and then Cam turned right back to him.

I did the same thing.... Its like whoa how did I miss that. I think the rush kinda messes with you and your more focused on Cam then the TE.

Pretty sure Seattle just ran this same play again. Play was definitely designed for the TE.

EDIT: different formation, but same concept.

Naw, you can get a mod to check IPs. I don't care enough to make a new name. Respect will come in time. My opinions usually differ than the majority but more people come to light later on..see posts below.

Haha no I didn't change the video. I just recently learned how to post YouTube videos into threads and am not technologically savvy enough to edit a video. I think if you look at it objectively and don't have a Cam Newton agenda (thinking he made 3 progressions and reads defenses amazingly) you see what you saw the second time. No one throws a fad route off the play action to the RB and the top receiver is clearly either picking or clearing defenders from the left side. Rep for being open to change your original opinion.

Same response^.

When watching it real time, it does look like he makes reads, but if you watch it enough times and watch the flow of action, the design of the play becomes clear.

Newton draws tremendous attention in college, that's for sure. Man, even as a viewer it's hard not to watch him make moves.

Here's an example of what can happen if you make a BAD read on almost this exact play. Drew Brees forces a throw AGAINST THE GRAIN to #85, TE - David Thomas. Picked by a Seattle Line Backer.

ANY TE Fade route is going to require a Read on coverage of your other receivers, ESP. if it's against the grain.

But no... Cam just runs designed plays to the letter. Doesn't make plays. You know... he's too stupid...

Further note: Tide Ends are usually NOT your players who can break coverage. Throwing to a TE who's covered is going to almost ALWAYS result in what happened in the video above, unless you're throwing to a beast like Tony Gonzales.

First of all, that play is nothing like the videos I provided. In the above videos, there is a clear effort to draw the defense to right through routes, QB movement, etc. In your video, Brees drops straight back and the TE is in the middle of the field.

If you can't see the difference between those 3 plays, you should stop watching football.

Second, in neither one of those videos does a TE run a fade route. Do you know what a fade route is?

All your post did was further the argument that some posters on here don't know football at all. Cheers.
