Just saw this quote from John Elway in the story from the Denver Post:

John has coached great defenses, turned teams around and been to Super Bowls."

Uh, you might want to re-read that resume, Mr. Elway.

Broncos fans act as if he's a three time Super bowl winning coach.

Well, Elway did tweet that Fox had been to Superbowls so maybe he's confused.

He might have been to some that he didn't coach in, you never know.

Ahh, good catch. Not as a HC which is how I was reading, but you're right.

Fox was a lot of things, but Elway's characterization is true... of the first few years he was here anyway.

Moore wasn't given a fair shot this year. You have to give a guy at least 4 games before you pull him. Yet, he was light years better than Clausen.

Yeah, when the coach pulls the QB down a score in a winnable game, it screams that it wasn't his decision and it could have been the FO trying to keep the rowdy crowd happy.

Oh well, if he's given a shot to compete I think he easily wins the job against Clausen and some other FA but who knows if he'll get that shot.

I'm convinced that John Fox will mesh perfectly in the Denver pro sports scene. Here's the proof.

This is a quote from another Denver coach, George Karl, regarding the possible Carmelo trade. I swear I can't make this poo up...

"I think the chances of this team being somewhat what it is, is probably just as much as the possibility of it not being (what it is),"

Pure gold!

This front office probably hamstrung the guy for years. Losing probably had more to do with the owners check book in the past as well. I'm sure he couldn't have the free agents he wanted and at the end of his tenure he was expected to babysit young players when we all know he wanted vets.

El Cheapo was the real problem.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Mr. Say Nothing is now coaching for the team that streamed their interview candidates and President send out tweets?

How many times has a coach been force fed a QB he didn't want then had to play him then decided to change his whole offensively philosophy for said player?

That's a little much don't you think?

If he wants to win, something has to give.

I doubt he hires Davidson again so we will see whether it was Fox's offense or Davidson's. FWIW that offense was designed to use a few basic sets and run all kind of plays out of them. In fact it was supposed to use the same set as earlier in the game and when defenses figured they knew what was coming based on the alignment, the offense was designed to cross them up by throwing when they looked like they were running and vice versa.

That was the theory. The practice was they were totally predictable and very vanilla as you said. I will be interested to see who they get to coach the offense. Somehow I think Elway will have a big hand in that.

I heard the leading candidate was Mora.

He wanted to, just couldn't with that QB.

It's not even possible to change your whole offensive philosophy around during the season.

Name one coach that could win 5 games with Pickles at QB.
