I think he looks promising as a starting defensive end. He has had to sit and wait his turn but now he has a shot to start. I think he as a good motor and can produce double digit sacks. Agree? Disagree?

I think he can depending on the talent around him.

Buck and Garcia seem to think he is. At least they were talking that way on their show this afternoon.

I think he is, but he'll get doubled unless Kemo or another DT proves they can consistently get penetration.

He's a real dawg! I've watched him over the years, and I can tell you that everyone will probably be pleasantly surprised at what this kid can do. Once he gets settled and a little starting experience under his belt, I expect him to be awesome. After seeing the mechanics and drive of C.J., <10 sacks per year = disappointment in my book.

C.J. is raw talent with plenty of size and muscle. He has a powerful motor with the spirit to match. With the experience, he will become an NFL beast.

Gotta double someone in a 4 man pass rush and Johnson will be our biggest threat when Peppers leaves (barring a big FA/draft pick up). Not like you have to leave a blocker free to worry about a disguised blitz coming from somewhere against the Panthers.

People would like to believe that we need a 1st round DE, atleast that was the case last year but I like to point out that if it wasn't for Johnson coming out early, he could've easily been a 1st round draft pick last April. The boy has talent. Could he live up to Peppers' standards? Probably not but this may not be a bad transition.

What we need is a DT that can be plugged in next to him to help relieve that double coverage. If we can find another Jenkins (with less troubled past) then I wouldn't be far fetched to say that our defense will be a lot better next year.

I will be disappointed if Charles Johnson is not starting at defensive end next year. And yes, I do think he's capable of double-digit sacks in a season.

Yes, he's capable of 10 - 14 sacks, and it's what I expect.

Yes, you guys are forgetting Charles Johnson was a projected 1st round pick but he fell to us in the 3rd. He could play ball in College and I've always seen potential in him. He will be the starter next year, I promise you that. He is a well rounded DE that can stop the run and put preasure on the quarterback.

he's definatley capable because he missed 4-5 this year by just a few fingertips or a handful of jersey...did anybody else notice that?

He can get to the QB, he just needs to finish.
