he's definatley capable because he missed 4-5 this year by just a few fingertips or a handful of jersey...did anybody else notice that?

He can get to the QB, he just needs to finish.

I am confused how one can tell a guy has a good motor when he only plays on passing downs where his only job is to get the quarterback. If you watch him in college he took plays off just like most pass rushing DE do. He is a good talent but not a starter. He benefits from working in a rotation.

why would you double team a guy who really hasnt proven anything yet?

Do you think he's an unknown quantity to OC's? Unless we blitz or have a pass-rushing DT, what else are you gonna do with that 5th blocker? Double Brayton? The guy had 6 sacks in a fraction of Pep's playing time and was close on tons more.

Being that Georgia is on the tube about as much as anyone in the county, plus the fact that I take an interest in Georgia football and watch these games (which just so happen to be against SEC and/or BCS level talent, plus the fact that I do take an interest into what the scouts have to say, I believe that this qualifies me to say that Charles Johnson has a good motor, etc.

I played DE when I was coming up, and you are not going to see action every play. I know my coaches preached the importance of "staying home" even though it may appear as though the play is on the opposite side of the field. Now, I don't know. Perhaps this can be taken for taking plays off. Anyway, you're insinuating that the guy has the supposed faults of Pep before you even see him play on the field on a consistent basis. Wow!

I just don't quite understand how you can blame Peppers and not blame Johnson for the exact same reasoning you just proposed... :D

Mint, I hope my edit of "supposed" faults of Pep clears this up. I was editing it while you were posting. I don't blame Pep for anything.

Yeah I think he is. He has the Motor of Brayton with alot more pass rush ability. He was the only one getting to Warner in our First game with Arizona. Madden thinks he might be good to. When I got rid of peppers and made him the starter he ended the season with 13 sacks. Maybe it's a premonition of things to come? ;)
