Carolina Hurricanes (25-22-5) @ San Jose Sharks (36-7-5)

Guys, I know the Vancouver game was a disappointment. I actually fell asleep, like a wimp, before it started. However, tonight I will be completely rested for our 10:30 start against the Sharks

If you live in the Southeast and rely on networks like VS (), you're probably asking yourself...

What are we up against?

This game is going to be very hard to for the Canes to win? It only takes a simple look at the standings to see that San Jose is first in the West. Beyond point standings though, they're a tough team that takes a ton of shots on goal, and plays defense by preventing opposing shots on goal. They're 2nd, and 1st in the respective categories. So, try to out shoot the Sharks? Funny thing is, they're also 1st in winning percentage for games where they are out shot, 85.7%

Numbers aside what's this mean

It means that we're going into a building that's going to be very hard to play in. They just lost to Chicago in there a couple days ago, which I believe was only their 2nd (regulation) loss at home. It's not going to be easy.

Not only do we need a very solid game from Ward, but we need our guys to play responsible hockey. Brind'Amour will not be making the trip, and in his place is Jacob Petruzalek(sp). Maybe that new energy will help. Maybe it'll mess with line chemistry too much...

Either way.. Go Canes. We absolutely need at least 3 points out of this 3 game stretch. With the Vancouver game blown, a win here would be huge.

Damn! No game on VS here! I have it on DTV via NHL CENTER ICE. I feel like I am wasting money because almost none of these games are in HD. Anyways the VAN game sucked and I fell asleep after the 2nd quarter. Maybe a good thing so I didn't have to piss and moan. I am almost at the point of writing this team off as a waste until they get serious.

When they went with Maurice, I should have known this season was a write off.
DAMNIT! Are Carolina teams on the decline or what?

UUUUGH!!!! Where is Dorthy when you need her?

This team really makes one think if they even practice together. As if, when they all gather together they are all looking into an abyss. :(

Holy hell...HUGE win. Wow. I can't believe it.

The Canes worked hard tonight, got some breaks, and took advantage of their opportunities. Now we have a possible 4 points on the 3 game road trip, which most thought (myself included) was impossible. Go canes!!!

They played quite well last night. Leighton was a monster in goal. I figured when Staal didn't come out in the 3rd, it was over, but they played some good defense.

What a great game to watch. Against arguably the toughest place to play in the nhl. Add that to the fact that staal was gone for almost two periods and that was a very gutsy win...in a shootout none the less. Go canes!
