Great, the Cam Newton threads will fill the front page again and I need to go away and come back in a week again.

Damn you Hurney! The conversations were finally just getting good around here again. Couldn't have you just shut up until at least March?!

Interesting, well thought out threads. It was too good to last. Alas, Hurney can't be happy just ruining our team. He feels it necessary to fug with our forums too.

So ready for April to be here so we can get all this speculation over and done with and move on with our football lives.

If only there was some way that the Panthers could play until February so that the wait wouldn't be as long every offseason!

EDIT: I just made myself sad :(

Well, we'll have the 3rd round comp pick that we couldn't trade if we wanted...

If it involves our third round pick we wouldn't have one after our first rounder until the 4th round. Unless we traded down in the first for additional picks.

A QB that's caught my eye is Pat Devlin, outta Delaware. He's got decent height and weight (6'3 or 6'4, I've seen both reported and ~225 lbs) and after watching a bit of video on him, he impresses me far more than Gabbert. Devlin seems to have a very quick release that's over the shoulder. Arm strength seems at least adequate (didn't see enough deep throws at a proper camera angle to judge zip and strength behind throws). Accuracy is light years ahead of Gabbert's. And most importantly, he seems to stand pretty tall in the pocket and deliver his throws. He doesn't get antsy and skittish and start scrambling all over the place once a defender is within a couple yards. I think if he's still around when we're making our comp pick, we should take him. I'd rather spend the first pick of the 3rd round on a DT or OL, but this guy would be worth a shot at #90something.

Here's some video on his 2010 season:

Awwww... have fun with it. The speculation can be fun!

On Pat Devlin, I kinda liked him too, but he does seem very mechanical. It's like he's onstantly thinking "step 1: Check if X is open, OK, Step 2: look to the other side of the field...", it's like he's all coached up. Not sure I like his chances to succeed that much tbh.

If I have learned one thing over the past 2 years since we all started looking at college QBs so in depth is that all of these QB prospects look like the next John Elway in their college highlight videos. Clausen looked amazing last year. Got burnt once. Not going to let it happen again.

I think we all lose track of that little fact of how much easier it is to play offense in college than in the NFL. Which is why I'm sick of the speculation and not relying on production when it comes to college prospects as much as I now look at physical build and pure athletic ability.

Don't know if he is an option at this point. But I understand that McNabb's contract is mostly smoke and mirrors. The guaranteed money was not that much and they could get rid of him without paying that much if I remember correctly. I think right now there may be better choices.

It'd be over 12 million/season for 2011 & '12 when all payments are included. The smoke & mirrors reports centered arround the skins ability to cut him after the end of the season and the only added expense to them was 3.75 million.

You know what I think the biggest news is that came out of this thread?

That Laetitia finally got one! This is the first time I see a Laetitia post in the last year where it wasn't late, that sparked a conversation and people actually contributed.

For real. I was beginning to think Laetitia was a bot designed just to repost late threads.

Actually, I think she is a bot.
