Are the teachings figurative or literal? You can't have it both ways. Until you're willing to completely let go of all sin, hatred and forgive and love you need to shut your trap about what someone else is doing.

I have to agree with this...Except for the letting go of Sin part. Sin is a human idea and creation, Just like "God"

I'm just going by what the Bible says. I in no way endorse any of it.

when there's nothing left to say but generalizations, a religious discussion tends to be over.

Lock it down.

Kill Fortunetellers

A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

gotta say i agree with this one, i mean how pooty of a fortune teller do you have to be to not see it coming?

Some irony about mediums. Saul used one to call back Samuel from the dead. Yeah, I said dead, to get some final nuggets of advice.
Then in Acts 16, one was following Paul and Silas around and she got on Paul's nerves and he cast out that spirit that was helping the chick predict stuff.
Her bosses got mad(she was a slave, yet could predict stuff, hmm) because their money maker was gone.

funny you bring that up. One of my husbands super christian friends just read the other day about Saul using a medium to talk to Samuel and he was like wtf?! he didn't know stuff like that was in the bible. He's only been a christian for 29ish years.

even more funny is this is exactly one of the points i will speak on this Sun. doing your homework. know what in the heck you believe and not second hand stuff.
from health, to laws, to politics and religion. too many people just go off what somebody else says and hasn't a clue about the truth.

What's crazy is he has worked at a church for 15+ years and been in church 3 times a week all his life. Honestly most of my Christian friends don't know anything about the majority of the Bible. They don't know what they are choosing to have faith in. One of my gfs claims she wants it to stay ignorant. She thinks I'm not longer a christian because I spent too much reading and understanding it with my mind. She blames the fact that I went to a christian school and read the Bible too much and instead I should just be "feeling god". lol Yeah she's not too bright.

I brought up the Holy of Holies at a Bible study one time and I had to explain it. No one seemed to know much about it which is shocking because I thought that was mostly common knowledge.

Theological "truths" are subjective, and no matter what you believe, you will never know it to be 100% truth... besides maybe when you die...
